no, this isnt the same page as all of the "Saddam is dead" or "Hussein is dead" threads that are inevitably going to surface over the next week or so... what i want to know is what the implications are going to be.

his last words were: "God is great. The nation will be victorious and Palestine is Arab."

im not surprised by the first half of his statement, but i worry about the implications of the latter half of his statement. and of course there will be some sort of increase in sectarian violence, but i want to know what will happen in the middle east now. will the iranian president denounce the execution? will any other middle-eastern nation do the same? and what happens if that happens?

think of the implications...

I think the implications in general will be continued, prolonged violence in the Middle East. Call me Nostradamus.

Also, and this is only slightly off topic, but Saddam kinda reminds me of Mel. Mel Gibson, I mean.

And now we know what Mel Gibson's next movie will be...

In all seriousness the execution is too easy a target to be ignored, it was why a lot of people would rather Saddam had been exiled to some godforsaken island and had to spend the rest of his life farming with puffin shit. It gives another martyr for those who followed his sect, though as to how it will affect the Israeli/Palestine situation could be very messy I do remember rumours he was funneling money to blood payments for the families of suicide bombers.

It's the eyes, mostly. That bleary, red-eyed crazyman-with-a-beard look.

And now we know what Mel Gibson's next movie will be...

Yeah he could totally play Saddam Hussein. Only problem is Hussein wasn't tortured, and Mel has to have his "I'm being tortured" scene if he's acting in it.

Anyway, I'll stop threadjacking now. :p
