http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16385433/ So far all they have is glow in the dark pigs but I'm sure they could probably do the same thing to other animals, thats when the glow in the dark kittens and puppies start appearing in the market. :p

We're closing in on being able to turn humans into Predators.

Holy fucking shit. That would rock.

Making nocturnal animals glow in the dark would be hilarious.

Whats so bad about glow in the dark pigs? Now that China is experimenting with stem cells they might begin fnding cures to previously incurible diseases.

I think he's referring to the lights going out and seeing a pair of Glow in the Dark pork chops on your plate...

Well that would be great. You can easily eat in the dark without wasting electricity. :p The bad thing I can see is absorbing the glow in the dark chemical from the pig and being visible in the dark, that puts you at a disadvantage.

Hahahaha, I can just imagine what my cat Sokkwi would do if he were glow in the dark. I think he'd go insane.

I'd welcome that side effect. I'd be my own power source. I'd never have to use lights again.

yes, because mutating animals like this is practically torture. when the little kids who liked to pull the wings off flies grow up and get PHDs, they do shit like this.

they introduced the material to embryonic pigs - you couldn't do this to an already grown animal - sorry!

pig... smash... puny... human!
i notice the lack of infinitely-expanding purple shorts on the pigs though

Yet. I never thought I'd live to see the day there'd be glow in the dark pigs. It's really the day and age that anything is possible.

I am fully aware of this. That's why I said imagine rather than declare that I will attempt to find some of the necessary genetic material and inject Sokkwi with it.

What's the use to this mutation?
Pure entertainment...

Mutating animals just for your own amusement is bad. Period.

<part that will probably get me flamed>
My current study is mostly about genetic manipulation.
Our class already manipulated (or rather: attempted to manipulate) an E. Coli bacteria cell line. (Everybody failed though, probably something wrong with the growth medium they gave us...)
Yes, I am (or at least trying to become) one of those "Eeeeevil" scientists who do things like this, and no, I did not pull wings off of flies when I was little, that's mean!
</part that will probably get me flamed>

Even though genetic recombination/manipulation holds great opportunities, someting like this has absolutely no real value, and is, therefore, not right.

They have ethical commisions against things like this in my country (Netherlands), I wish the rest of the world had those too...

...no...it's for stem cell research, apparently. You fail at reading comprehension.

Well the article did to boost stem cell research, we all know that stem cell research will help find cures for illnesses so its not just for amusement.

Edit: I bet the scientists are going to love watching them glow after all the resaerch is done.
