Well, I tried to make the point in the other thread that you can actually "win" a war in the short term, but lose in the long term. My example there was WW I, where Germany "lost", but the war really didn't come to a decisive "end" - the whole thing repeated, except on a much more horrific scale, because victory simply was not truly achieved - in terms of a long-lasting stable result with positive benefits all around.

And, as in the case of Vietnam, the US can lose the short term military fight, but in the end, its goals can still be achieved - rampant capitalism, in this case.

So, in that spirit, I present to you the method by which the US will achieve its long term goals in the Middle East.

No, nuking mecca would only rile all of the Muslims up at once. The Hajj is going on now. Spray mecca with biological weapons, like smallpox, and in a few days disease will spread through every Muslim community on earth. Sure it will keep spreading from there and probably infect everyone on the planet, but to make an omelet you've got to cause an outbreak of painful fluid filled pustules on six billion eggs resulting in the deaths of over a third of them, right?
