Suppose China or some other country with enough power to defeat America threatens to declare war on the US if they don't stop the media from telling more lies. What would happen?

The media would have a field day, war makes for great news.

But they'd get nuked. Nobody likes that unless they're either mascicist or suicidal. I meant the US media, I should have made that clear in the first post. :( Whether you work in the media or not no one likes living in a country under fire.

Wait, China can defeat the US? Nope. Sorry. China isn't up to the challenge.

US would point out that the government CANNOT stop the media from telling lies. Such a thing is not within the power of the government.

That sucks. :( The idea of the government is to govern the people, that includes those in the media.

Suppose the enemy government is insistant to declare war if the media isn't stopped. (whether the government has power or not to do so) For example the media badmouthed their dictator and the citezens (who are patriotic and feel insulted) want the media punished or else war is declared.

I don't think any country has a leader so immature that they would threaten war to get people to stop making fun of them.

Eb1l J00 who secretly controls everything: HARHAR! What can China or any country do to us? You want to mess with us? No more trade for you! If AmeriKKKa goes down, we'll take everyone with us!

The analogy would be like asking a weak person (not that the US is weak) to lift a boulder. Not capable of doing so.

That would be if the US was in a wimpy appeasing mood (say Ralph Nader got elected President). Most presidents would be pretty pissed off, and would choose war. If nothing else, in order to appease the media's thirst for blood.

That reminds me of an incident in the early to mid 1800s (I forget exactly what year) when a Canadian man was extradited to New York to face murder (I think) charges on the condition he wasn't to be executed. He was given the death penalty and the British government threatened the US if the sentence weren't changed. The British didn't believe the US ambassador's insistence that the Federal government doesn't the authority to interfere in state judicial proceeding like that, and the only person who could pardon him was the Governor of New York. I forget how it was resolved, but it goes to show that something vaguely similar did once occur. Of course, the relationship between the UK and US in the 1800s is much different than the relationship between the PRC and US right now.

Lets take into consideration the media is good at controlling our minds and opinions, and they can get us to boycott things from certain nations, they can get us to dislike anyone of that nation just for being of that nationality, the US media has already gotten most of the US populace against one thing or another in its long history. Not to mention the fact that there are tons of immature leaders out there (most of which are involved in the Iraq war) .

Well, one thing's for sure:

The one thing guarnteed to make something flourish is the US declaring war on it. I don't know about china though.

Terror, drugs, muslims...

*ROTFL* You're kidding right? A person would have to be pretty dim to be controlled by the media. Influenced a bit perhaps. But not controlled. Most people are far more independent than you seem to realize.

Not in the state I live in.... :( :headbang: They worship the media and act exactly like the "bad cool" characters... And the media is almost all they talk about. Life is scary there and the only place I can have an intelligent conversation is here and with my family. Sad. :(
