You're good.
Technically, I didn't get it for CHristmas, I just picked it up that day. Shot it the same day, I'm sending it back to the MFG of it. Has a nasty case of trigger slap and some FTF issues. Looks really pretty though.

I can't stand those grips on the handguards. Some people swear by them, but they feel awkward as hell to me.
I've got the very standard Romanian WASR-10 type AK.

Nice. I like the grip on mine, although I'll probably finish another standard handguard just to try it out. This is the communist response to vertical foregrips on M4s and m16s. Tactical, commie style.

I tried out some of those vertical handgrips on AKs when I was in Iraq, but I just never liked them. At least with the M16/4 you can adjust the position.

they made those grips long before we made ours. I used one in BiH years ago and hated it for Wallie's reason. I never got the handgrip thing. Guess I am just old school. MAybe it would help going around corners but...

nope. its essentially a bellows emulator for dSLR camera :)
allows the focal depth of field to be artificially adjusted accross the photo even when the f is actually even... will be cool!

I got two nice sweaters and a great book, some cash, and my sister got me an Iron Maiden 2007 calendar (Woohoo!) - but the nicest thing she made for the whole family was a VCD with old family movies. That surely was a blast from the past and fit the Christmas spirit perfectly. That's the sweetest thing!

Far too much chocolate. Seriously - a yard of Toblerone, a couple of pounds of Dairy Milk (which isn't even that nice), a box of Terry's All Gold (again, not great), and a shitload of chocolate coins. It'll keep me going 'til Easter.
And some other stuff. Sunn O)))'s Black One, Lost Series 2 (DVD), a juicer, and, the coolest present I got this year, a framed copy of this photo (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/jambadger/non%20gig%20stuff/65charl.jpg).
I got a S.A.D. lamp! It is the shit, I love it. Now I want one with a dawn and dusk simulator. w00p w00p

A couple of gift card things (used one to buy the Godfather DVD Box Set), the book Foul! by Andrew Jennings (top stuff), and a bunch of booklets and audio CDs to help me learn Spanish. Ole!
Well, I also got high school results, but that was a few days before Christmas.

I got money and good food mostly. Also I got a really thick book full of useless trivia, quotes and other such stuff (like one and a half pages of immutable laws of the universe) , reading such books is something that I really enjoy doing. All in all this was a good Christmas.
