Best presents ever?

Akai Oni

This Christmas, I received what are quite possibly, the BEST presents ever!!!

A GIGANTIC candy cane, and,

An entire bucket of fairy floss (cotton candy for our American counterparts), which is no longer.

I got heaps of other stuff as well, but i felt these two deserved an honorable mention...

So, NS Generalites, what are the best presents you managed to receive this festive season?

(not that anyone is going to top my sugary brilliance!)

The best present I ever got was the nine-piece drum kit my parents gave me two years ago.

Honorable mentions include the NES in 1st grade, the Sega Genesis in 5th grade, the Minnesota Vikings Starter jacket in 7th grade, and the numerous gift certificates that have purchased so much of my wonderful music. :)

House of Leaves, by Mark Danielewski. Incredible book. Deeply creepy, maddeningly addictive, and very, very long. I've actually postponed starting Gears of War (another gift) to finish it. And if you think that's nothing, consider this: I've been so sucked into reading it that this is the first time I've gotten on NSG today.

I might have trouble sleeping tonight.

I have Labyrinth on video, taped off the TV. It is one of my favs too and I'll replace that with the DVD one of these days, but The Dark Crystal tops the list. It is just one of the best movies ever made storyline wise. Beats all the current crop of shoot em ups and beat em ups that rely on pretty special effects more than story and good acting.

Can I assume from your bundy comment that I'm speaking to a fellow Aussie?

That is a cool book. I take it you have the version where some words are coloured, then? In mine they're either italicised or bolded.

(I only got it after I was found out some of 65daysofstatic's music was influenced by it). :p

It's evil overlordy evil. It's the type of chair that the bad guy sits in and it's facing the wrong way when the wimpy underlings walk in to grovel at his feet. Then he'll swing it around slowly just to seem even more shady and evil. Or maybe he leaves it facing the wrong way if the people aren't actually deserving of any face-to-face attention and he'll issue evil commands to them with an "or else" menacing tone.

I'd take a photo and show off the awesomeness, but that would involve getting up out of it.

My chair rocks.

Oh, and thank-you. I've been working on my evil overlordyness for some time. :)
