A not so Merry Christmas...

I'm here at work, and I just recieved a call from my mom.

My dad has had a second stroke, and has been taken by ambulance to the local hospital. :(

There's no chance I can get anyone to come in to cover for me on Christmas morning, so there's nothing I can do from now until 7am but wonder, and hope the doctors can do something for him.

I'm so frustrated right now...I just don't know. :(

That's a bummer. Doctors are getting better with stroke recovery though, and doing some amazing things. I know multiple-stroke victims who you'd never know had any problems. I had a stroke myself a few years ago, most likely, and although I didn't see a doctor for it and don't know how extensive the damage was, it gets better as time goes along.

Well, pray 'em if y' got 'em, I always say. And if you're not the praying type, think well on him while you're not able to be with him. It may seem a hollow comfort, but even the Buddhists believe that "thoughts held in mind produce after their kind."

Here's hoping he'll be all right again soon.

Having lost a loved one recently, I'm hoping with every fiber of my being that your dad turns out ok.

Recently found out an auntie had a stroke. She's fine, carries around a walking stick, but hardly ever actually uses it. She's quite happy.

I hope your father does even better than that though :)

These days we have a better chance to getting people to recover from a stroke, but still it's not good to have one.

Dude, there is not a job in the world that would make me stay if my father had a stroke.

Damn straight.

Hope he's okay.

You have my sympathies. I really hope your dad gets well soon.

Surely not one that could keep you from getting to the hospital!

That's the worst Christmas present I've heard of yet. Was he disabled at all from his first stroke?

You had a stroke but didn't see a doctor, why?!??!

Delator - Thats harsh! I hope all turns out well.

I am shocked though that you need to stay at work...won't even your boss cover for you?
