I apologize in advance if I am duplicating someone's efforts...... I have been sitting here this morning reading some political works, and think there should be an official NationStates election.. (Either In Character or Out of Character) Hopefully this will not be just another popularity contest...... My thought is as follows:

Several people could be nominated for political offices, over the coming months (just as in the actual elections) then we could hold primaries (thru polls of course), and finally, a November election..... this would give players an opportunity to even campaign, or have a formal debate if they wanted..... I think this is a good idea, but then again I am bored and still a bit groggy, so feel free to tell me what an idiot I am.....

Also, please advise if there is somewhere else I should be posting this instead, like an IC board..

But as it stands: observe the NationStates General Parliamentary threads. Also there are the parallel government threads, which I think have completely fallen by the wayside.

Yes, the Parliament isnt scheduled for an election for another couple of months. (It's every 6 mos. if I remember correctly) We have plenty of silly and serious parties to conform to your pleasure.

I would suggest that you not expect too much out of the parliamentary stuff. Usually it sticks around only for a brief while before people lose interest, since most people who actually care about that kind of roleplaying go over to the roleplaying forums, while those of us who are vaguely interest only maintain said interest for a brief amount of time.

I would definitely recommend taking this to an in-character thread. However, I do love the idea, and think if something IC came forth I may actually participate, before taking over the world one nation at a time anyway as is the plan.

its 4 months, and arriddia does but i think he's not about much these days. i sorta run it by default as the voting forms are hosted and run by me
