My Timing Rocks (no pun intended...)

Cannot think of a name

I just moved from my beloved Santa Cruz Mountains to San Francisco to be closer to the work, not just San Francisco but Treasure Island-a man made island that, with a solid shaking, might just sink back into the ocean...an island that is only accessible by the bridge that didn't survive the last big quake...just in time for there to be three earthquakes in a row. (http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2006/12/24/news/state/16_03_1512_23_06.txt)

Now of course, these are sleeper quakes, that is quakes that I can sleep through. In fact, I've only felt one of them. But-
The three quakes erupted along the Hayward Fault, which geologists believe is due for a large quake in the potentially lethal 6.7 to 7.0 range.
I used to live like 100 yards from that fault line. Anyway...

Should I be worried?

"It could mean there's something coming, it could mean there's nothing coming," said Jessica Sigala, a geophysicist with the National Earthquake Information Center. "It just means the area is active, more active than it's been."
Thanks Jessica, you're a peach.

So if I vanish all of a sudden, you all know why...

Yay, another one (http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/local/states/california/northern_california/16316734.htm)...this time right about where I used to live near that fault.

Time yet to worry?
Seismologists said the activity is not unusual for the area and does not necessarily mean the "Big One" will strike soon.

Pesky 'necessarily'...

However, experts have said there is a 27 percent chance of a potentially lethal earthquake of a magnitude 6.7 or greater on the Hayward Fault by 2031.

Even peskier 'however'...

Probably just waiting for me to go back over the bridge on the way home...

Can I recommend putting a lifejacket in your glovebox?

Volkswagens are supposed to be able to float or something. Maybe I should just bring an oar...

Two bits of wood and some canvas. *nods*
I now have a wonderful image of a begoateed Californian sailing across San Fransisco Bay on a partially submerged VW. Ah, the daily commute. :D

I have no idea, but I thought you might be talking about a piar of 'Timing Rocks'. Something along the lines of 'Then boil for 60 drops of your timing rock or 5 minutes'.

I like how both of these work.
