The Clock
By ME!.
Tick...tock...tick...tock...The rhythmic echo of the clock was reverberating inside his head. Tick...tock...tick...tock...It was driving him crazy, but it wasn't as bad as the man with the gun. Tick...tock...tick...tock...The unnatural consistency of the inner workings of the clock seemed at odds with the chaos of the last minute. Tick...tock...tick...tock...But still, it beat on. With all his will power and alll the might of his tormented soul, he willed the clock to stop. Tick...tock...tick...tock..."Stop!" he screamed, with all the anguish of a soul battered and beaten. But it was a mistake, for the man with the gun had said, "Be quiet." And with mechanical precision, a tiny hammer bid farewell to a finely tooled hunk of lead. And the clock beat on. Tick...tock...tick...tock
