Seems the Washington state governor things a Menorah is just fine, but a nativity scene is not.

You cannot do that. Either display all the relevant religious horseshit or none. Non-establishment clause.

Nonsense. Christians are a majority and therefore do not matter.

Steve Valandra, a spokesman for the Department of General Administration, said officials were concerned that in comparison with a tree or menorah, a Nativity scene might carry a stronger impression of government endorsement of religion. Lawyers for the state felt there was insufficient time to fully research the issue, he said.how much research is needed to realize a Menorah is also a religious symbol. heck, a christmas tree is also a symbol for a religion.

I agree, it should be all or None.

My question is how could a lawyer be so damn ignorant of constitutional law?

Why not eliminate 'em one buy one? Once you block the majority one, another will replace it as the majority. Then you block that one, etc.

You know, more and more I think about all of the civil rights and rights and more rights, it seems as thought the rights of the majority are being disregarded and the rights of minority groups are increasing. Should the government not do what the majority want? Ridiculous.

Hooray for political correctness!
I for one welcome it as a new driving force behind every single one of our fucking policies,in both the USA and the UK.

I wonder if that would actually bring the US into a civil war of sorts. Jesusland revolting against the interned government committing those actions. Sadly I think Jesusland would win simply because 90% of the army comes from Jesusland and their sympathies are more prone to the religious, conservative, patriotic side =P

Either include all religion, or exclude all. You can't pick and choose.

The airport has a menorah for Hanukkah and the decorated trees for Christmas. What do you need a creche for?

actually, the army matches the population spread of the country rather well, as far as geography and race go.

Majority groups have it sweet. Minorities are the ones far more likely to suffer prejudice and difficulties.

...but aren't there already Christmas trees up at this place?

Why does Christmas get two displays and Hanukkah only one?

It's easy. Constitutional law is something that is invented from moment to moment. It's the same as being ignorant of public opinion or stock prices, you can study the past all you want, it tells you very little about what will happen tommorow.
