Tom Tomorrow's Extremely Subjective and Admittedly Incomplete Year In Review (2006)

Tom Tomorrow has been one of my favourite online comics for the last three or four years. A friend of mine turned me on to Tom's world of clipart-inspired madness, by sending me his strips as email attachments. In the same spirit, I've been peppering my posts here on NS with Tom Tomorrow comics off and on for quite a while now.

As 2006 draws to a close, let us revisit some of the silliest bits of the last twelve months. Ladies and gentlemen, I give to you the "Extremely Subjective and Admittedly Incomplete Year In Review". Take it away, Tom!

...and I still can't believe Trent Lott actually said that. Man, what a drip.

Wow. I seem to have missed hearing about that particular comment at the time. That's pretty astonishingly stupid and offensive.

Maybe he expects the offensiveness and the stupidity, but not to such an astonishing degree.

Yeah, the guy who writes that is an idiot.

His work is consistently more entertaining than this post.

Yeah, the guy who writes that is an idiot.
Tom didn't write anything.
He just quoted what GOP'pers actually said.

So we must thus infer that you mean the guys he quoted are idiots.

Yeah, the guy who writes that is an idiot.
Almost all of what is put into his comics comes from actual quotes or news stories.

Admittedly he can be stupid, though, like with that one that basically said Indepedents are idiots and should be Dems or Repubs.

"That sounds like absolute bullshit to me—it's typical O'Reilly," he says. "We've never received any similar warnings from the FBI or any other government agency, and we've done plenty of reporting to piss off Bin Laden."

I couldn't have said it better myself. But I can't say I'm not surprised...

You know, I really want to sit down with Bill O'Reilly and have a civil discussion with him about his views, and try to understand why he holds them. I think such a discussion might help change him.

Well, see, the idea would be that the sit-down part--thus implying personal contact as opposed to text exchanges--would allow for a more intimate and thus more convincing show of my arguments.

Bring a bat.

Maybe if I was going to be talking with Eric Bauman, I'd do that, but I'm afraid that Bill O'Reilly would be packing a firearm and would shoot me if I even approached him with something potentially harmful in my hands, even if I was just holding it to hold it rather than holding it in a threatening manner(as I often do with this staff I've got while talking to people. I like holding things in my hand; what can I say?)

Bill O'Reilly ... would shoot me if I even approached him

No need for embellishment; there's truth for you, right where you live.
