Holiday Blizzard 2006

I live in Littleton, Colorado, and here there is 6" of snow, all coming in almost horizontally, to the ground, the temp is 24F according to the news station, and almost all flights have been closed. I was going to go up to boulder today, to visit some of my friends, but it looks as though that won't happen. If you are affected by this storm, or if you just want to share your blizzard experiences from the past, please post, I am trying to see what the conditions are like in other places.

Really, I hail from here, and this is some of the worst I have seen it, don't worry, it isn't usually this bad, my recommendation, go by some chains for your car (hopefully you have a truck or SUV) and go up to the mountains on friday.

Six Inches is nothing to Colorado. Three years ago, we had over 12 inches of snow over president's day. That is a blizzard. This is nothing more than a snow storm but not a blizzard.

It is coming down fast, two inches just dropped in a half hour. A blizzard is about the wind, not the amount of snow, though there will be quite a bit of snow by the time this is through. We are expecting 26 in the end

You can have white out conditions and get little snow and it will be called a snow storm. For a blizzard, you need winds of over 50 MPH if I remember right.

You are right that they are forcasting up to 20 inches of snow but they are also forcasting 10 inches of snow as well. Between 10-20 inches of snow and it will all depend on where you are located inside this system.

I am a little worried about the chemistry, three scorers (Carmelo, Iverson, J.R. Smith) may cause some bickering. But maybe they can win a few games

Big difference between them was that they both wanted to control the game. That is not the case with Iverson and Melo.

Not necessarily. That is why meteorologists are studying the phenomena. The University I attend in Lancaster, PA just got a grant to study this phenomena.

It is rare and it does fascinates the hell out of people who have to predict this crap.

I'm just a wee bit to the west and south of you along 285, about twenty or so miles away. That's a sheer guestimate, mind. Up here--as I consider it, since we're about 3000 feet above you--we've easily got two feet out there already. It's a damned shame this occurred. I've got about five different Newtonmas presents I needed delivered here so I could give them to my family members.

But, apart from the volume of snow, it isn't too bad. I've mostly just been sitting in my room playing "Dreamfall: The Longest Journey."

I have experienced thundersnow in all the places I have lived in save for California.

As have I. Thundersnow isn't as odd as people might think.

What can be odd, though, is watching it rain on one side of a street while your side is dry. I experienced that several times when I lived in Ohio.
