He is expected to announce at a press conference tomorrow that he will retire after the final Ashes test in Sydney.

I can't believe this. He is in form as good as ever and still looks like he enjoys it. He'll have 700 plus wickets when he goes, but Murali will no doubt pass this number, but he is a chucker so it won't count. :P

England to win the 2008 Ashes!

lol, yeah right. Australia has a wealth of talent. Even with Warne and Mcgrath gone I doubt England could take them back again. Then again who knows, it is a fair way away and England could get some great new players in the mean time, or hit form.

Yeah, about then. Saw it on Sky. I'm secretly hoping it is a facade and Warne is actually going to announce that he will play in the world cup.

Well look at it this way. all fo Engladns current players will still be playing, plus players like Broad, Joyce, Panasar, khan, ect. Will all be matured. Meawhile you aussies will eb missing 5 or 6 plaers through retirment.

Reminds me of a great ad on late night television, here.

Shane Warne: What do you think is my greatest fear? Breaking my spinning finger or losing my hair?
Thats right, losing my hair...
In his Australian accent it is much funnier.

Hopefully for his fans, this isn't a "Michael Jordan" type retirement, where he goes to play another sport poorly.

When Vaughan and Simon Jones return from injury, Trescothick sorts himself out, the selectors finally realise that Panesar is better than Giles and Read is better than Geraint Jones, and Cook has got a couple dozen more tests behind him, England will be a very good team.
