As apposed to the "Christmas Loot" thread, this is to tell everyone about the stuff you know you've gotten for the holiday(s). So come out with it, people!
As for myself, I got myself an electric acoustic guitar with an amplifier, picks (though I'm not a pick user), instructional videos, and a carrying case. I also got $50 in cash from my uncle, which I shall use on eBay.

Sure.
Although, I think it's cute and/or quaint.
Anyways, she's out in Cali, I've seen her all of three times. At five bucks a visit, I think she's the best per capita gift giver I've got.

My grandma gave me one present early: The excellent America's Tyrant: The CIA and Mobutu of Zaire by former diplomat and Voice of America correspondent Sean Kelly. Highly recommended reading.
I also know that I'm getting a Nintendo DS Lite from my mother, though I haven't gotten it yet.

I bought myself a membership to the local arts community which I will be using for the first time tomorrow when I drag my kids to this campy art museum that I love.............:p
I am also headed to the Opera next month with it, and to the Saturday evening pops with kids in tow in February which just about makes up for the purchase price for the membership

Family knows that the only way to win is not to play and buys gift cards of stores, I shop in, relatives try to play and lose... they buy specific gifts I really would not enjoy.
I bought myself a CD with music from the south sea.
I don't know what anyone got me yet. I like to be surprised for one thing and for another, well, no one's told me what they got me.
Although it seems my sister bought me a t-shirt, but that's just 'cause it's wrapped up under the tree and feels like a shirt.

My g/f gave me a pair of earrings--and I probably have 3 or 4 more pair waiting, her parents gave us some cash, which came in handy, and her uncle gave us tickets to see Bill Maher in concert in January, which is easily the best present so far.
By comparison, my g/f has already gotten a fountain and a 7 megapixel digital camera and a 2gb SDHC memory card, plus the above presents from her family. Who's coming out on the short end here? :p

In my own little world, family are people that you know well, that you can talk to about anything and basically you have a connection that is more than just by blood. Relatives, well you kinda know them, you see them during the major holidays and really the only connection you have with them is blood.

My rule is, if the present is personally given to you bya person and they or you are going away and so you wont see each other on christmas it is ok to open the present, just so they can see your joy(or saddness/disappoinment)
opening presents for the sake of it is retarded.

Before I went to work this morning, I bought myself Husker Du's brilliant Zen Arcade (an original pressing in flawless condition) and a black Husker Du t-shirt.
I spent just under $60 on eBay Express, as I also bought my dad a Beach Boys LP. I thought it was a good thing to do, since he loves the Beach Boys, and he often complained about the vacant sound quality on the CD reissues. He should be happy with it, as it's an original pressing of Endless Summer, which is in near-mint condition.
I honestly thought about buying an MXR Distortion + pedal for my electro-acoustic guitar (I wanted to do some apeshit experiments), but it was too expensive, and I'm sure that I'll be happier with this arrangement.

I don't see the point either. I only shop once or twice a month when I need things like food and such. If I need something I'll get it, but I hate having a bunch of stuff around the house that I don't have any use for.
