I believe that widespread digital piracy has resulted in a form of entertainment communism where media can be enjoyed by nearly all regardless of wealth or status. As long as they have a computer and an internet connection people can have access to almost limitless amounts of entertainment that they could not normally afford. So if that counts as communism then yeah.

On the inverse, every time, during my youth, that I was involved in downloading pirated music, I managed to cripple my computer with viruses.

Which, along side a moral belief in intellectual property rights that developed after I stopped being a bitchy little 16 year old, is a big reason that I no longer download pirated music.

I felt that people could not be truly free to pursue their own paths in life and free to do what they wished while they were faced with the choice between work and starvation. If the state provided the essentials, people could do what they wished with their lives instead of spending it all at a cash register or in a cubicle.


I still believe that if technology, automation, and computerization of factories advances far enough, we will no longer need manual laborers, and my 'ideal' society would be achieved.


however, I came to realize that a state of such utter dependency is not a utopia: people who are at the whim of the government for sustainment will never be free.

I am fairly close to communist; I don't think communism would work because of the human conditition, however, I think we need a more regulated economy and we need to keep huge corperations and CEOs in check to make sure that they're really benifiting the people.

Yet, CEOs and huge corporations don't want to benefit the people, they're not in that line of business to benefit the people, they're not the UN or UNICEF. CEOs and huge corporations are just there to sell a product and make lots of money. So far I do not see a problem with that. If that what people want to do, then let them. I could be a teacher, but I hate kids, so I'm going to be an archivist.

I resent the CotFSM being lumped with scientologists. Our belief is WAY cooler than there and equally believable.

As for commis, in what sense? I havent heard any honest to goodness Stalinists or Maoists, but there are plenty of socialists. Just look at all the NS with 98% income tax and higher for the wealthy.

Well, in NS because its more feasible people are able to be true Communists (or "Democratic Socialists" considering NS doesn't have a Communist one) and in real life there is Cuba.

I would classify myself as a Socialist.

I believe in a Welfare State very similar to the model employed by the Scandinavians, but far more restricted. It would allow state owned companies to operate as normal based on the profit motive like capitalism, but be taxed immensely by the state, everything would be. A large Government Regulatory body would allow employers from the companies to pay their workers set wages defined by the market etc, but that this govt body would assign 'social worth's to individual jobs and subsidise each workers wages accordingl, these subsidies would be paid via immense business and individual taxes, but the people wouldnt really notice as their wages will be higher.

Over time the stigma associated with such jobs as Public Servants and the community jobs would be lost as they are paid more, because they put more into society, while more greedy workers would end up with far less, thus shaping the society slowly over times to the mindset of communism.

I am also very much against democracy, mainly because the greedy and not yet indoctrinated people would 'vote out' the socialist path to communism. So in the socialist transition period (may take many many decades) a restrictive government will control the media and political stuff, etc. Of course consumer goods and the like will always be available for people to buy with their subsidized wages, and so people will try and help society more by better jobs of more 'social worth' to buy more consumer items.

This is using the capitalist mindframe of the population in the transition to produce a socialist and selfless result, and this will suffice until the population are more communist and less greedy, which will of course take a long time. I trust not the petty ever-changing whim of the 'mob' to simply vote out socialism, but I trust their deep aspirations, and so to do what is best for them.
