it certainly does, as an ideal :)
and i'm kinda in-between on social issues. the political compass puts me rather libertarian, but i support issues like ID cards, the police keeping DNA on file, speed cameras on motorways and security surveilance in town centres etc. that's not very liberal... just practical.
however with other social issues i believe the the government has little juristiction over what happens in the privacy of the home

ecosocialist nonarchopacifist.
market schmarket. without the web of life we don't eat or breathe. whatever the mumblyfiddles with little green pieces of paper or the like.
if there were no governments in the way of taking care of ourselves that might be ok too, but as long as they insist on being, there is no other legitimate excuse for their existence, then welfare and (environmentaly harmonious) infrastructure.
(one minor little detail, for those who are into that sort of thing:
ALL religeons are "socialist". therefore to contend that socialism is anti-religeous and capitolism is some mysterious how not, has got to be the biggest absurdity of all time).

Oddly, the Political Compass has yet to stick me in the lower right...it keeps insisting I'm Ghandi. :p

I want a liberal market with free enterprise and so on but I want there to be a very good social security system to. Socially I see myself as very liberal but I want there to be very restrictive gun laws.
