Lame, but I don't think that he was actually involved in anything in recent memory.

I swear, dying must be a fashionable trend among the creators of the golden age of comics and cartoons at the moment. Pfft.

Get touched often?

No, I just don't have much patience for people who take things I say out of context. Well, make that no patience whatsoever. Note the time between his post and my post.

Edit: Okay, it appears that he's been doing the occasional cartoon now and then, which makes it all the more lame that he died. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0053484/

so Potarius... let's wait till you're Ninety and see how much YOU produce. and we'll have the same attitude if it's no where near the amout you produced before you RETIRE.

The man is Retired. His works still live on tho. Remembered by more than one generation.

Alot of us grew up with his works. Even more have seen something from the Hanna Barbera team in the later years.

RIP Joe Barbera... may you and Bill enjoy your reunion in the Afterlife!

EDIT:
Lame, but I don't think that he was actually involved in anything in recent memory.
On the off chance that I did take this out of context... What exactly are you calling "LAME"?
Potarius
19-12-2006, 01:35
...Yet another person takes my comment out of context.

I was simply saying that I couldn't remember him doing anything within the last few years, so his death wasn't such a big blow. Obviously, I was wrong, as he was doing the occasional cartoon during the past few years.

Lame, but I don't think that he was actually involved in anything in recent memory.well, the LAME comment really doesn't say what you are calling lame.

the fact that a man who created several Pop Icons died, or the fact that he is retired, thus all his work before retirement should be discounted, or the fact that he didn't do as much NOW as he and Bill Hanna did back then? what are you labeling with the term "Lame"?

what are you labeling with the term "Lame"?

The fact that Barbera died. Pretty damn obvious if you ask me.

Anybody with at least basic reading comprehension skills could see that I was saying the fact that he died was lame. Of course you saw that and just decided to jump in (I'm quite sure the first one doesn't know up from down, judging from some of the posts I've seen).

So, what'll it be? Will I receive an apology from you for being a total dick and twisting my words, or will I just be left on my own, as usual?

not that obvious.

Sad,
Pity,
damn...
there are other words to express sympathy and loss. lame usually isn't one of em in my experience.

'Lame' usually expresses a disagreement, or dissatisfaction and this is the FIRST time I'm seeing "Lame" used in showing positive sympathy for a loss of life.

I could think of quite a few choice comments to add to this, but I think that it's pretty pointless.

"Lame" does leave alot that can be misinterpreted. especially with an International Forum.

especially when other threads you used different and more commonly used phrases of expressing sorrow and sympathy.

So yes, I do apologize for mis interpreting your post. and I do admit that I have never heard of the phrase/word "Lame" to be used as expressing sorrow or sympathy for a loss of life.

Add to that the use of the word "Lame (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/lame)" does not support Potarius's use...

Not gonna happen, pal. I, as well as others, have used the term in this context many times before.

For starters, there's telling people that they could use a more appropriate term (though I figured mine was appropriate enough). Of course, there's also being a complete jerk and twisting somebody's words.

I really felt like putting you on my ignore list for a minute there. I think I still might go through with it.

Well, I did give you the benefit of the doubt, but seeing that you have not and will not explain why you FEEL your post was taken out of context, I will resubmit my reply and add that nothing was taken out of context nor misunderstood.

and re-assert my claim that you only value what a person contributed during the last five years of their life and not the years nor the deeds and contributions before.

and if this end with you putting me on your ignore list...

then all I have to say is...

Meh!

Okay, this is turning into a flamefest quickly. Kindly stop it, lest I get accused of starting a flame thread! Last time two people were arguing (and one of them was you, JuNii) and it degenerated I got a 5-day forumban without having been in the fight because I was commenting in the thread, don't do a repeat of that!

Jesus. Don't make me pull this forum over.
