Did right-wing bloggers blow it again?

It's starting to look like it (http://www.mediainfo.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003522706). Some posters around here went all batshit on the AP a couple of weeks ago because they trusted right-wing bloggers. It was over that story on the six Iraqis who were apparently set on fire that was sourced to an Iraqi police captain named Jamil Hussein. Right-wing bloggers claimed that no such person existed, and that AP made him up because of their loathing for the Bush administration or their inherent liberality or because Hillary used her mind-control lasers to force the editors to push the story--it's hard to keep up sometimes. In fact, it got so bad that former CNN News chief Eason Jordan offered to fly right-wing blogger Michelle Malkin to Iraq to look for the guy.

But now, well...

The latest development was all set off by a brief post by Danziger at WindsOfChange.net: ”With the help of some friends who have been doing a smidgen of looking, and it appears - appears, but is not certain - that there is in fact a Jamail Hussein in the Yarmouk police station in Baghdad. We'll know more tomorrow.”

Malkin posted on her site michellemalkin.com today that she has contacted CENTCOM for comment.

Allahpundit, posting at Malkin’s adjunct Hot Air blog, commented, “And what of the boss’s trip? Are she and Eason Jordan still going to be knocking on doors in Hurriya? So many questions!”

The tag for the story on the Hot Air home page currently reads, "Anyone got any good recipes for crow?"
And yet none of our local posters has seen fit to note this little development. Wonder why?

Hmm ... MTAE's been banned, The Redemption Army's on a Mod-sponsored vacation, too, Amadinejad got booted ... not a lot of trolls around, and the right-wingers won't touch it.

I'm sure we can squeeze out an "evil liberal media" ploy out of someone without toll-baiting before the night's out.

Who reads blogs?

And not only blogs - right-wing blogs?

Ugh.

I actually had Michelle Malkin's phone number. Found it last week. Would it be against the rules to post it here if I can manage to locate it again?

I imagine it is, and I'd rather you didn't anyway. That's the kind of shit she does, and I'd rather this didn't get lowered to her level.

Dude, I didn't even go looking for it. Someone else posted it on the internet and I stumbled across the information.

Sorry, I just have this image of you: palms out, shrugged shoulders saying "Honestly officer, I had no idea how...."

Everything is news. Heck, your post just went by in the bottom of the screen crawler on CNN.

You know what blogs are, people?

They're glorified opinion pieces. And not even glorified in the traditional editorial method of being printed in newspapers, but on the internet. Usually at one of the many sites where one can start one up for free. They were just meant as journals, folks. We shouldn't start taking them so seriously. It's just people mouthing off opinions. We have enough of that from fucking Fox News.

A blog said something that wasn't true. How is that news?

In this case, it was a situation where both the blogs and the military were making claims about the veracity of an AP report, and a handful of posters here were jumping on the bandwagon, talking about how these blogs were more trustworthy than the AP. I was hoping one or more of them would come to the defense of their precious sources, frankly.

Again? How about once?

Next you'll say that they got the photos in Lebanon wrong...

Not AP, but nice try all the same. And for the record, the successes the right-wing can point to number one, and it's a success that didn't substantially change the facts of the story, only the legitimacy of one source for the story.

Only one? I guess you don't follow them much...

They outed Eason Jordan on every one of his fuckups. That's a lot more than "one".
