The ancient nation of Macedon (ala Alexander the Great) and the modern nation of Macedonia are two different things, aren't they? I mean, Rome is still the same place today as it was 2000 years ago, but Macedon and Macedonia are two different entities, right?

I meant, Rome is still in the same place. But I'm pretty sure that Macedon and Macedonia are in different places.

Roma is still in the same place. The seat of the Mayor of Roma is on the Capitolinum Hill, near the Ara Coeli, just over the Roman Forum, less than 1 km away from the Colosseum. The seat of the President of the Italian Republic is on the Quirinale Hill. The Italian Altar of Fatherland is over the Tullianum (where Vercingetorix was jailed and executed), etc, etc...

The ancient territory of Macedon (Philippos's kingdom, pre-Alexandros) is roughly splitted between the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia, Bulgaria and the Greek region of Makedonia.

Just so. And it was the Greeks who insisted that the Yugoslavian part of Macedonia be known as the "Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia." They'd as soon have that little country part of Greece but for some reason the inhabitants weren't having any.

(And as a gentle aside, Risottia, it's "roughly split" between the three countries, not "splitted.")

No, they are pretty much in the same place.
