What are you taking next semster?
Of course, this would only apply if youre in the US I guess, but those who arent changing semesters right now are free to share with us which classes they are currently taking.

Im currently lined up for:
Writing 102
Cultural Anthropology and Linguistics
Chinese Civilization
Western Civ 102 (thats ~1700-present, or something like that)
Math 122

The first four classes I cant wait for, the last one is giving me a headache just thinking about it. Im the sort of person who can do a problem four times and come up with at least five answers.

I just finished:

Advanced Macroeconomics (Distinction)

No idea what I'm gonna do next semester. I've got another two and a half months to think about it.

Russian Literature after 1860
Intermediate Russian II
Introduction to Comparative Politics
International Security
Cognitive Neuroscience

The first should be great (I know the prof), the second'll be a bitch but because the Russian dept is so small, I'll get at least a B, the third and fourth should be interesting, and the last's already giving me headaches.

Well I just registered for my classes 2 weeks ago:

Chemistry 111B
Introduction to Physics
Calculus 2
Essential Public Speaking

My only problem is with the last class. I'm not really good in doing oral presentations because I tend to get nervous and occasionally stutter, but its a required course.

It seems strange to me that you get to take a wide range of subjects at university. We can take duel degrees in the UK for two similar subjects, such as chemistry and physics, although these aren't seen to be as good as a straight degree (at least by scientists). I think specialising in one science subject is much better.

However, I think your way of doing things is much better in some cases. Like my friend who takes politics only does four hours a week! (I'm still not sure if he's having me on or not). I have 18 hours a week (including labs), which also means that I have much more revision and reports and assignments to do than him. I'm told in the second year it gets MUCH worse and we have to stay in uni as late as seven o'clock. I'm not complaining that we get too much work, in my job before coming to uni I did a lot more hours in a week. But four hours is way too little, those students should be made to take other subjects too. Or chemistry students like me should get extra money from the government or something...:)

I'm in the UK, going into the second semester of my second year. Next time, I'll have the fun of doing:

Biophysics, Ligand Binding and Enzymobiology
Metabolism and Metabolic Control
Membranes and Signalling
Genetic Engineering
18 hours of labs a week, and
My Dissertation

Gotta love the uni life.

18 hours of labs a week

That's twice as much labs as I do now, I was told it gets much worse next year. I suppose I'll be doing about that much. I really enjoy labs, however doing 2-3 lab reports a week isn't fun. How many do you have to do?

yeh, i'm doing a joint honours in geography and archaeology and i only have four hours of lectures and seminars a week. i have to do a fuck-load of reading though. theoretically anyway, i've made it to fourth year averaging a 2:1 without actually doing any reading except for what was directly relevant for essays.

it might have been the case a few years ago that a joint degree was thought less of than a single honours, but these days where any undergraduate degree is pretty worthless they are just another way to get to doing a post-grad degree.

A liberal arts college (most of the other ones) will have a "core" or "base" curriculum, which requires all students to take a basic level of classes in English, language, science, math, and humanities.
Once you reach a higher level (say, Junior or Senior year) you are pretty much only taking classes in your major.

Education Major?

Because my friend who goes to Brown gets about 5 weeks.

A couple of the colleges I was looking at a couple years back were more like 6-7 weeks.

This is the only college in the area that's mean like that.

:(

See, other schools sometimes have a kind of 'winter term' where they might do brief international programs, or something along those lines.

And obviously, that's impossible for me.
