So it seems some people are getting a little too worked up playing their new Wii console.

Blatant misuse of controller ensues.... (not sexual):p

Nintendo recalls 3.2 million handstraps (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/15122006/323/nintendo-recall-3-2-million-wii-hand-straps.html)

WII gamers share their pain (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/14122006/80-132/video-gamers-share-pain-active.html)

"Nintendo built a system that's fun," Walsh told Reuters in a phone interview. "You get really into it. Your hands get sweaty, next thing you know your remote goes flying into the dog."

I have only let go once. And I wasn't moving at the time. Last time I checked they weren't recalling them though, just replacing them if people wanted them.

How did you manage to drop it without moving? I'm assuming it gets a bit slippery after playing for extended periods.

Is the console any good? I want one but funds stop play:(

Some net sites are just saying they are being replaced if people want so I don't really know what the real story is, or if it's different in different countries

It's not a recall, it's a voluntary exchange program. Essentially it seems like they're taking out idiot insurance.

They're just throwing the option out their as yet another precaution against getting sued. Personally I thought all the warnings were enough.

When you turn it on you get a screen that says "Have you read the health and safety warnings book". Whenever you enter a game it tells you to make sure the strap is on right (tight, but not too tight. With slack). Then in Wii Sports before every sport it says too make sure that there aren't any people or objects around you and that you can always pause it and take a break.

You can find pictures of broken straps there. The strap is made up of a single small plastic wire.

The only flaw so far with the Wii is that there is a tiny, tiny string attaching the wrist strap that keeps it in your hand to the controller, a string that easily, and often, breaks.

I really want the Wii. But it freaks me out that there are actually websites all about to how much damage the Wii has done. People tossing it at the tv, at the family pet, out the window. It's odd.

There was a Wii demonstration at my student union the wednesday before last. I played the boxing game twice, it was really fun and I won.

There was this guy who wanted to play it as well, but my friends wanted to fight each other to see who was the best. So I offered to play against him and he wouldn't because I'm a girl. The prick.

Me too, I love Sony. I've already got £200 saved up for the PS3, I should have the whole lot before it comes out in Europe.

I enjoyed playing the Wii and the controllers were fun, but I imagine I'd get bored of it after a while. Also the graphics are crappy and few of the games it has appeal to me. However, I'm brainwashing my little brother into asking for one next christmas so I can play the boxing game again.

It's simple. If you aren't an idiot and follow the warnings, nothing bad will happen. If you dive through the window playing Tennis it's your own damn fault

I laugh whenever someone that follows Sony insults the Wii's graphics. Not only because the PS2 won last gen, but the PSP is getting it's arse kicked. Good Graphics =/= A winning system.

Why does everyone keep mentioning Boxing? If you play it for more than five minutes you'll notice that it isn't particularly responsive, and that it's hard to do anything but jabbing. Now bowling, that's awesome.

Yes, I guess more people will buy the cheap yet fun Wii but good graphics is what I want in a system. The Zelda game for the Wii looks pretty decent: trailer (http://us.wii.com/viewer_zelda.jsp?vid=9). However, FFXIII for the PS3 is just so amazingly beautiful. Here's the trailer (http://www.square-enix.co.jp/e306/titles/fabula/ff13/e3trailer.html), it took me a long while to load so if you want to watch it then I suggest that you have a look at the Zelda one while you wait for it to come up. Another thing that I like about the playstation is the controller, it's perfectly designed. The PS2 joypad is much better than the 360 one, although the Wii remote looks fun to use for cetain types of games.

The boxing game is really energetic and fun, the others all seem boring to me.
