What's the word on the next NS General election?
I think it is right around the time it would start again (Last election was in August, if I recall.) Is there anyone who knows for sure what will happen?

The last election ended in October... a month I barely recall anything about.

International House of Pancakes, dee dee dee!
Anyway, let's not spam up the thread. I've done enough spamming today and don't need to be Modsplapped.

I think it was shown that NSG elections are as pointless and silly as real elections, with the added pointlessness that NSG government doesn't have any power whatsoever.
Also, I and my elite posse of forum warriors overthrew the NSG parliament. And we'll do it again if necessary!

A parallel to real world government. :)

Not really. Real government can put me in prison for not giving them money. Or you know, kill me "on accident" if I happen to be Iraqi.
What can NSG do? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Not even in relation to this microcosm of a forum.
That's why it phails - unlike say, NS regional governments, which can control who goes and who stays in the region, and on their message boards, who can post, and on their maps, who can be on the map where, etc. They have some actual ability to do things, and thus they serve as much better parallels to government.

Do those elections do anything except fill up to front page with long pointless threads that end up as homes for spammers?

They allow people to flame each other along "political" lines (i.e, the limp-wristed left, and the baby-killing neocons) without pretense of an actual argument or topic.
They allow graphics artists to show off their wares.
So in other words... no. Not really.

yeah. the merge was a bad idea.
I stayed out of Parliament this time, so I don't know whether they've changed the delay between elections. If not, then the next one isn't due quite yet.
