Peace for money

An Israeli tycoon is offerring 1 billion$ that the head of Hamas and Olmert just sit down and have a proper talk. Am I the only one that is bemused at this turn of events? Rich people trying to buy peace,.......

Yet another proof that rich Jews are really pulling the strings in international politics.

Five bucks says that soon after they sit down for the talks, and get their money, the fighting will start again.

You know, I just get the feeling that this is one of those problems where throwing money at it won't really help anything in the long run. On the other hand, getting the people to sit down and talk can't be a bad idea.

Yea, but can we really trust either side to abide by any promises made in the talk? I doubt it. Like I said, when all of this falls apart, and the guy loses a billion dollars, I'm just going to laugh.

Can't hurt. And it's his dollar.

Yea, but one would think a businessman would be able to make a better decision than this. I just hope he isn't betting his entire estate on this.

That's so funny. Whenever the Arabs have agreed to a peace plan, they later turned their backs on it and started attacking like rabid dogs again. It's too bad that Israel doesn't just nuke them all right now, instead of offering them money to stop fighting.

It's private equity. Some people spend it on cars, some people spend it on hookers, I guess this guy wants to spend it on hamas.
Bothers me less than business men who take their stockholders equity and spend it on their own salary while bankrupting the company. (I'm looking at you Rick Wagoner).

True, I just hope he knows that he's in for a big let down.

He's made his billions in the gambling industry. I'm sure he is aware of the odds. And maybe he has so much money that it doesn't matter. I've heard that at some point the actual money doesn't matter and it's all a matter of keeping score.
So see it his way, if this suceeds, he's an international superhero who we will all love forever, or near enough.
If it fails, I'm sure he still has his bentley and hooker money.

They will just bleed him dry then start another war with his money
He's not actually paying for it by himself: apparently he has a "consortium of international financiers". Still, I feel sorry for the guy, since he presumably has good intentions.

Or he's looking for a clever way to finance Hamas.

Yes I feel he has good intentions too, but the land for peace didn't last long so why would money for peace?

Well, it probably could hurt since Hamas aren't likely to spend the money on chocolate
