I found him. I found god.
His name is George Thorogood (yes, a George) and he plays guitar.
Admittedly he's a bit of a geek god, but he plays guitar!

Gads....
Thorogood. I also found his music to be geared toward the consumer.
Tom Waits would be a far better music god.
however he isn't a great guitarist (he's not bad)
Zappa is the one true guitar God. Ye who foreswear false idols will burn in an eternal pit of high notes and masturbatory solos....

The first three or four albums are fantastic, and are more geared towards the pleasure of the music, after that the rot does start to set in a tad and you do get the feeling that their eyes were set on stardom a bit too much at the expense of actual quality.

I liked the Move it on Over LP, and even though I love the H. Williams Sr. he borrowed the title track from, I just can't bring myself to really, really like/love the music of the OP's suggested Deity.
I stand by my statement that Tom Waits should be the only Music God whom is invoked.

Amazing.
I was totally unaware that God was just a guy who ripped off blue guitarists' riffs and passed them off as his own.
If Thorogood is God, what is B B King then?
Amazing.

No, no. Clapton is God. There was much graffiti that said so, so it must be true.

Duh. That is what blues guitarists have always done.
