"How could they do such a thing"?
What always pisses me off, is like after columbine, for example, people were wondering "How could they do this? Why would they do this?"
It's so obvious.
When you treat someone like shit, eventually they're going to fight back. It's happened throughout history. America rebelled from Britain, India rebelled from britain, France overthrew it's kings, Russia overthrew it's Czars. The woman's rights movement, the abolitionists. Martin Luther King. Malcolm X. NAACP. The Black Panthers.
See what I'm getting at? It's so obvious. These kids were treated like shit every day of there lives.
I'm not justifying there actions, I'm merely saying you should be able to see why they did it.
Plenty of other people are treated like shit and they don't go and shoot a bunch of defenceless schoolkids in the face.

Most people are treated like shit by at least a few others. That's no reason to kill them.

And I assume you're aware of the severe consequences of killing somebody. Usually it ends with either life in prision or death. Not a very enjoyable way to end your life, I'd say.

Erm.
If you are forced to kill someone-as in someone is coming at you with a loaded pistol or a knife or is obviously going to do extreme physical harm to you or those around you-by all means, kill away.
Nowhere in your link is mentioned the words, "Go ahead and kill whoever you don't like."

If I killed anybody I didn't like ther would be about 4 people left in earth as I pretty much hate everybody...But I never said who and why.

It is apparent you have never been treated like shit every day of your life, by countless people, never letting up? Every waking moment it seems like your life is just a just pile shit, with other people just making the entire situation worse?
I do. I was "unpopular", I was a "social outcast", I hated everybody. And quite frankly, I was quite near the point of shooting up the school.
It's not that they were treated like shit once or twice, or even a dozen of times. It's the fact that almost everybody treated them like shit practically all the time.
Add to this any number of social/mental disorders(Such as depression, which I also have, and have intimate knowledge of what it actually does to people), and quite frankly I'm not surprised that they actually did what they did.
But hey. Nobody wants to do a retrospective on their own lives, and how they may have contributed to the monsters of society, now do they? Of course not, it would mean be responsible and respectful towards others, but that just gets in the way of a "good time".

Great book. I read it last summer; it's one of my favorites.
If I killed anybody I didn't like ther would be about 4 people left in earth as I pretty much hate everybody...But I never said who and why.
It must be quite an achivement to meet all 6.5 billion people on Earth. I wonder how you did it.
Frankly, had I had the chemical background I have now in middle school, I would've probably blown it off the face of the Earth.
Generally, if you keep pushing mentally deranged people there's a pretty damn good chance that they're going to lose it and lash out somehow. It's happened before, and it will damn well likely happen again. Not to mention there were plenty of warning signs that they were going to do something violent; the Columbine murderers had been unstable for a while.
Two easy to remember tips: Don't treat others like shit, and if you hear someone is going to commit an act of violence, report it immediately.
It must be quite an achivement to meet all 6.5 billion people on Earth. I wonder how you did it.
Well, if you met one person per second, every day, for 100 years you'd meet about 1/2 the current population of the Earth.

That's a pretty impressive calculation.

Well, if we didn't have the band we would lose a classic 1970's rock staple...and we can't afford to lose that.
I mean, imagine what would happen if we applied that to the bands America or Europe?

The OP is not saying it was right. He's saying he gets pissed of when people say "How could they do such a thing?" when it's obvious why they did it.
They were pushed too far. Every day for years they were treated like shit. They were not strong enough to deal with it without using extreme measures. Nothing would balance the pwer dynamic between them and the bullies, except guns. These people had made their lives not worth living, sol they'd finish their lives. I'm not a trained psych, and I've never talked to the school students involved, but that bullying story gets played out in schools everywhere. Every now and then, the bullied gets pushed over the edge.

Aw, I'd miss it. Several members of my family live on that side of the state line. Plus, a bunch of my favorite restaurants and stores are over there, too. I'd have to drive twice as far to get to the good ones in my own state. They even have the only Ben & Jerry's in the area!
Of course, if you just wiped out western Kansas, that would be okay. :D

My county was only meant to have one middle school, and th second is the most retarded in the whole country- students and some teachers (I had some good teachers!)

For what it's worth, Wiki sez... "Later investigation showed, however, that the notion they were unpopular and outsiders was largely a myth, although the idea had become ingrained in popular accounts."

Oh, really now? Do not presume that you can read anything into me. You don't know me, and you don't know anything about my life.
I will say this much - I spent the majority of my teenage life battling on my own terms with depression as a result of social ostracisation. I have on several occasions on this forum explained some of my experiences more in-depth, but I do not wish to repeat them in this thread.
On several instances I contemplated a violent solution to problems - hitting back, since I had been taking karate lessons for some time - but I never stooped to that level.
There is no justification or appropriate reasoning for what the Columbine kids did. They may have felt that their problems were the cause of their actions, but that does not explain the countless others in similar situations around the world that do not resort to physical violence. I'm not saying that bullying isn't a problem. Far from it. But I hardly think the Columbine kids are an appropriate example of the impacts of bullying, since i'm willing to bet they were more than a little unstable anyway, even in comparison to others suffering the brunt of schoolyard prejudice. We should focus on preventing bullying for its own sake rather than holding these two psychopaths up as some sort of bizarrely twisted role model. They were not forced to kill or injure anyone and don't deserve the least bit of sympathy.

Kanabia said it, but its a double-edged sword (as are most things), as the examples given (Russians overthrowing the Czars, French the monarchy) they are/were considered good things.
It all depends on how you do it, I mean its very unlikely but one of these kids could've become President and totally changed America in a good way, but he choose the easy way out.

Here's the tip. For most people in your high school, you were the Bullying prick that makes things like Columbine happen. Atleast your post puts that message across.
That sort of behaviour would have gotten him expelled from my high school and escorted from the town by police.
