Here, I made a thread so you guys can trash each other in peace (the rest of ours, anyway ;) )

Err, ok? *scratchs head*

There's a thread about contributions you've made to society that's been hijacked by some gits. Thought I'd give 'em somewhere to duke it out ;)

You'd have to ask the gits, I'm afraid

Why are we arguing? I dont want to argue :(

Why, according to Skibereen, not funding terrorist organisations - worse, even; disagreeing with them - makes you a bad person.

Sinn Fein, in particular.

But Sinn Fein was essentially the political branch OF what's considered a terrorist organization for quite some time.

Yea, but apparently funding them doesn't mean you're supporting a terrorist organisation.

And if you disagree you're "filthy".

Wouldn't say hijacked, someone who feels strongly against Sinn Fein criticised the opener for donating to them. The opener then responded with a nasty biased personal response based upon the persons location and their dislike of Sinn Fein. I admit I repsonded to the openers personal attack against the criticiser because I can't stand the simplified, romanticised crap that Sinn Fein and the Ira used to milk money out of the USA for years. But it's a nice thread idea in principle so I'll keep my head out of it from now on. Hell I wouldn't even have responded and I doubt others would have gone off topic if the opener had just let it slide or been a bit less personal in his response.

Scotland all the way ;)

Right, well whoever said that is a moron. Simple, no discussion, thread closed.

Yeah, sorry, they didn't say "trash", they said "filthy".

My mistake.

LOL, forgot Scotland and Wales ;) It was pretty much hijacked tho, even if it was hijacked by the OP. Nice thread otherwise. Was looking forward to hearing good things :)

Bah, you can't just open a thread to debate and not pose a question. :)

So what IS there to debate, really? I missed whatever thread you're talking about, but this is a subject I'm rather invested in.

Okay . . Why are the gits arguing in the other thread, when there's this nice, quiet, empty one where they could be alone? :D

Good summation.

I am sorry Nadkor.

No debate Mac...anyone who read the opening thread would know i wasnt seeking a debate...not until I was slighted anyway.

It's the "What have you done?" thread, a question I'm sure the OP is asking himself even now ;)

Debate is over--per my statements she proved me wrong.
All I could do was apologize for a personal attack I made against her.

Since one cant deny Sinn Fein's involvement in armed struggle I cant deny it when she says murderer or terrorists....I would say freedom fighters...but potato potato.

I removed solid ground from my self by insulting her anyway.

I take my hat off to you sir. This is the very first time I have seen on NSG an apology for being over the top and being proved wrong.

*Doffs hat respectfully*

Well, good show then. Not that I'm NOT disappointed there isn't a bit of debate. It's finals week, and I have vitriol to misplace, and since several of my studies revolve around Ireland's history I'd like to find a good target. ;)

Well, I could start in with "Did the Potato Famine really happen?" but that might be a bit trollish, yes?

Yes the "Potato Famine" did indeed happen, as there was a famine/shortage of them.

Calling it merely a "Famine" is a misnomer.

Well, Mac truth be told were the thread about Ireland I would have responded much better to her. But she caught me off gaurd as the thread had nothing to do with such so I responded poorly.

Equally I do understand her point, but forthe purpose of my thread I was slighted because i wanted people t osay what good they were doing...to me a palestinian giving to Hamas can be called good--just like an Isreali in the IDF fighting Hamas can be called good...as my question was relative to the doer.

I wasnt expecting a challenge to my politics.
So I lashed out.
Bad form on my part.

I for one do not accept Skibereen's apologies. He still supports the murder of British subjects, and that is not something that is okay in my books.
