When it comes to debates, who do you consider your ally, who's generally on your side?

Most of the time, I side with The Atlantian islands, Europa Maxima, and sometimes Ny Nordland (whatever happened to him?).

i don't think there's anyone i'll agree with 100% of the time although there's some people who, if they're already debating a particular topic, i'll just watch rather than pitch in because i know they'll pretty much say what i want to say anyway. if i was to enter such a debate it would only be if the opposition was being ridiculously beligerent and i thought i might be able to slap some sense into them, although those sort of posts tend to be ignored if the debate is going too fast. otherwise i feel that pitching in would be farely pointless.

To the OP, you really shouldn't have allies.

All that does it make it harder to correct your ally when they have done something wrong. You can have an ally in a war, or a conversation, or on a particular topic, but you really shouldn't have permanent allies.

I don't know about "allies". I think it depends on the subject we're talking about. For example, Greater Trostia is always on the wrong side when I'm talking about those savages from inferior cultures, but on some other subjects I think we've been in agreement.

Ironically, last time I was debating religion on the side of religion, I got a pretty bloody flame from many science types, even though that same day I returned from an interview with a research group whose focus is quantum mechanics.

Anyway, I don't really have any permanent "allies" on this site. I have people who agree with me on certain issues. A lot of the bigots tend to lump me in with "liberals" or "leftists" because I am not as bigotted and nationalistic as they are.

But it would be foolish to think most "liberals" and I have some sort of alliance based on this, since when it comes to all economics I almost certainly disagree with them and would in my older days tear their commie-socialist arguments apart. (Nowadays I don't bother, I just sigh sadly and hope they see the errors of their ways one day.)

As far as putting up with his postings, when I don't like what someone's posting, I'll debate them to show that I don't put up with those views. I don't harass them.

I don't recall you harassing him, so my point here isn't intended to be personal. Just a general point about dealing with flawed positions by debating them rather than harassing the poster.

Allies? Well, that depends on the issues. Of course, the anarchists and the anti-authoritarian leftists are my allies on most issues. But, if matters are social or religious, I tend to ally with all of the anti-authoritarian agnostics/atheists.

Neu Leonstein, Vetalia, Vittos, Andaluciae, Greill, Llewdor and - I shudder to say this, but I like him - BAAWAKnights. I occassionally side with TAI, NN and the OP, depending on their argument - more usually though just defending them from flames rather than genuine agreement. :) Alliances of convenience are sometimes formed with individuals such as Soheran or Jello Biafra, when economics is out of the way in debates.

There are good people here who would make outstanding allies in a truer sense than that temporary alliance concept.
