But yes, cram it.
I was shopping and I got things for my friends over in Europe. This year, I have to cram gifts into envelopes and try to get away with it. So far, it's been working.
I have become a pro at getting things into small packages. ;)
So, can you cram it?

Hmm.. I've never tried.. but I can fill my grocery buggy (I use the little ones), fridge and freezer very good... and no I don't smoosh anything, I just know how make things fit. So I'd probably be able to. :)

Seriously though, I'm a master crammer. More accurately, I'm a masterful packer of suitcases, packages, cars, etc. I love it and I rock at it.
And yet I suck at Tetris. :(

Ah, but she'll appreciate it. I saw poptarts the other day in one of the "US products shelves" at Karstadt, and the Smores ones were "on sale" - for just 5.90€ instead of the usual 7€... (That's almost US$10). How much are they in the US again?
And this reminds me: Kanabia told me that they have new regulations in Australia that demand that if you sent a package overseas you have to pack it at the post office, before the eyes of the postal employees.
Even just thinking about it again now I can feel my blood pressure rise! Can you fucking imagine that???!!!

It's still a hell of a lot cheaper to by the expensive imports than to send a package though. I spent like $ 30 on it.
And this reminds me: Kanabia told me that they have new regulations in Australia that demand that if you sent a package overseas you have to pack it at the post office, before the eyes of the postal employees.

Fucking ridiculous. I saw no such thing on the package my mom sent me.

I'm not sure. The big price on the price tag is only for people that have a special customer card. It's still a hell of a lot cheaper to by the expensive imports than to send a package though. I spent like $ 30 on it. Noooo! Don't do that! Okay, maybe you know this and what you sent was just too big, but in case you don't know:
When sending overseas from the US ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use the Global Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelopes.
They're free at the post office, they have no weight limit (the limit is whatever you manage to stuff in there), and they come in two sizes - postage for the small one (fits a CD or DVD, IIRC) is about $5, postage for the big one (bigger than DIN A 4) is $9.50, IIRC.
They're cardboard and the big one really fits a lot.
[/public service anouncement]
I had to unpack my package because I needed to write both price and weight of the individual objects I was sending and I didn't know those by heart. Fucking ridiculous. I saw no such thing on the package my mom sent me. Well, I've never heard of having to write the weight of each item on the little green customs sticker. Either that's a new rule (because we all know only terrorists won't write down the exact weight of the dirty bombs they send, erm, away from the US, apparently) or - my guess - your postperson was clueless.
What you usually have to write down is the contents of the package (i.e. yes, every single item, though of course no one really checks, unless it gets opened in customs, so eh) and the total weight, which is usually written in by the postperson because they weigh it, duh.
And your mom would have needed the same exact green sticker on any kind of package sent from Germany, too. She might have avoided that (and, mainly, avoided the higher postage) by sending you something that still qualified as letterpost. (Vergleichbar mit Maxibrief in Deutschland, kann also ganz schön riesig und auch schwer sein, und auch ein "Päckchen"karton o.ä.).
Ah, so you want me to send you poptarts?
I mean.. because.. they are really cheap, if I remember correctly.. Actually... I think I've had exactly 1 poptart in my life. And I forgot what it tasted like. So, I dunno. :p

Unless you're using a different postal service than the American one, you'll probably get to put one of those blue sticky thingies on your packages detailing what exactly is in there, how often it's in there, how much it costs, and how much it weighs. N-joy.
