I came upon this gem on MSN:

I'm going to Oregon for Christmas. I'm definitely checking my slippers every morning. ;)

when I lived in AZ I got in the habit of checking my shoes before putting them on, in case of spiders and scorpions.
It was so funny when we came back here to visit family and we were getting ready to go to the store and my child who was 9 months old at the time started checking her own shoes, my in-laws thought it was so funny, but she still does it at 5. It's a good habit I guess.

It's a good thing to do. My sister trained me to do that when I moved to AZ.
Her cat brought in a tarantula and decided it would be nice to put it in her bathtub to find when she got ready for work in the morning. I think my ears are still ringing from her screaming.

A friend of mine recently had a bite from what we guess was probably a brown recluse. Had to have a chunk of his calf taken out and the scar will probably always be there. =( He was on antibiotics for a very long time.
I see black widows in my yard fairly frequently. Scares the heck out of me.
I love nature, but spiders suck.

There was this one time when an earwig fell onto my head in the middle of the night... I shook it out and it landed on my bed... then I squished it between some tissues.
Fun times!

Every time I see a spider I think of Ungoliant and Shelob.
They're necessary, but I really don't like them.

spiders are evil. i would happily live in a world of many more insects if that was the result of exterminating all spiders.
