"A wasted youth is better by far...

Lunatic Goofballs

...than a wise and productive old age."

It's a line from a song, and one of my personal mottoes. At least until recently. Tonight, I found myself rethinking it.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm proud of my wasted youth. Best times of my life. *nod* But last night, I was watching my twin boys from the doorway of their room. They were babbling to eachother in sequence, like they were having a deep conversation. Then they stopped, looked at me and gave me twin evil grins and then turned back toward eachother and resumed their conversation. They're plotting against me!

The point, if I even have one, is that I'm really starting to enjoy my wise and productive old age. It has rewards I can barely fathom.

So I ask all of you: Is a wasted youth better by far than a wise and productive old age?

What're you going to do, get kicked in the bollocks? ;)

I reckon an unwasted youth just makes you old faster.

Well, the question that defines us and the kind of men we are is this: Is the occasional kick in the bollocks and the associated pain worth the joy of kicking other guys in the bollocks? For me, the answer is yes. :)

There´s nothing is worse than a wasted youth.

I wasted mine and being older and wiser now makes no difference whatsoever.
If that´s your case too, well you better start regretting it because it´s gone, you can´t turn back the clock.

Be wise NOW, don´t do anything stupid.
My friendly advice.

Heh there is no such thing as a wated youth. What do you suddenly 'know better' when you get to a certian age? Nope the whole idea of youth is to teach you how to be.

Wasted youth, it's an oxynmoron.

It can be wasted, if you send it all learning to be someone and then find out you don't want to be that person at all.

I haven't wasted my youth. And that kind of scares me. I've always felt loads of responsibility and have done all my actions with the future and consequences in mind. I worry that in that way I HAVE wasted my youth, at least, wasted the time you are allowed to be carefree and living tralaladida. I desperately want to break this cycle and be irresponsible and drink to much every weekend instead of once a semester. But I don't really know how. :(

I knew exactly what I wanted to be when I was a teenager.

Shame I don't now.

Edit:
How, exactly, does one waste their youth?

Excessive work, study and seriousness, insufficient messing around.

Such a sad thing to say. You wanna know the formula for wasting your youth ?

Start fooling around, doing drugs or drinking and neglecting your studies.
Do it until you´re thirty.
Brilliant career as a blue collar guaranteed.
Girls, get pregnant at 16.

Results in : no upward social mobility, no money, no education, no success, no achievements, no nothing.

I am not sure, as far as my wasted youth.......it wasn't a great time in my life, but I am pretty sure I would be a very different person today if I had not lived through it's challenges.

I hope to have a wise and productive old age, since now I am neither wise or productive.

a wasted youth is fine, a wasted middle age is pathetic.

if you fully enjoyed your youth, you will more fully enjoy your wiser older ages.

A wise old age or a wasted youth?
You cannot have the former without the latter.

That ‘wasted youth’ is the seed which grows into wisdom.
