Anyone understand this strange thing?

I've tried this, but I don't understand how to do it effectively...

1) Go to http://www.world-voices.com/software/nchtone.html and download the program
2) Set a mono, impulse beat to 38Hz
3) Put on headphones (this is required) and hit play
4) Enjoy your Endorphin releasing beat
5) ???
6) Profit!

ALSO, BE WARNED THAT IT COMES OUT REALLY LOUD BY DEFAULT! SET IT ON A LOWER FREQUENCY TO LOWER THE...REALLY LOUD LOUDNESS!

also,

0.5 - 1.5 Hz - Endorphin release

0.9 Hz - Euphoric feeling

2.5 Hz - Production of endogenous opiates (pain killers, reduce anxiety)

4.0 Hz - Enkephalin release for reduced stress

10 Hz - Enhanced serotonin release. Mood elevation, arousal, stimulant

14 Hz - Awakeness, alert. Concentration on tasks

20.215 Hz - Brings about safe LSD-25 effects

30 Hz - Used for safe marijuana effects

33 Hz - Hypersensitivity, C. consciousness

38 Hz - Endorphin release

46.98 Hz - Visualization effects, when used with 62.64 & 70.47 Hz

90 - 110 Hz - Pleasure-producing beta-endorphin rise
111 Hz - Constant beta endorphin release

965 - Relaxes muscles, especially those of the neck [KFL]

304.0 - Useful on headaches sedation and pain relief

Anyone know anything about this?

Didn't you see that episode of the Myth Busters? It doesn't work. The energy needed to properly play the super-low frequency is immense, so there's no worry of a random brown noise machine...

...At the moment...

I think you need special speakers to produce sounds below 25-20Hz. If you try this with a regular set up nothing will happen.

You can't hear anything below 20-25hz anyway.

make sure it's not at too high a frequency mmkay? As in, ~1000Hz.....

Endorphins are normally produced as a response to pain.

So yeah .. there may be pleasure producing endorphins released... but its likely to be in response to the pain causing noise you are listening to...

Doesn't sound like a worthwhile exchange to me :(

I've tried it before and it didn't do anything for me, but supposedly the effects get more prominent as you open up the neural pathways... or something. Although if it does anything, I highly doubt the effects will be as prominent as you posted. Alpha waves are supposed to make you alert, Beta: more relaxed, theta: sleepy.

Your brain "creates" the difference between the frequencies, so it doesn't matter.

EDIT: Damn you, Colodia!

Apparently the trick isn't to set the tone to the stated amount, but rather to have two frequencies going at frequencies where the difference is the stated frequency. I.e. I'm running two sine waves at 31.25 and 11.05 to produce the LSD one.
It's weird, but not LSD-ey

And for the Marijuana one, you'd apparently want to have two going at 41.71 and 11.71 as opposed to a single one going at 30.

Anyone want to check if I'm right? (Basically all of this is theory anyway, too little research done)

EDIT: Actually, I think I've found something. Set it to Steroe and do what I mentioned, I know it's messing me up :p

HOLY CRAP

Whatever you do, DO NOT listen to the white noise.

I knew it was supposed to be sort of relaxing, so I set the program to that and clicked "play".

For some reason, it automatically resets your computer's volume TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL. So where I expected to hear a soothing babble of noise-canceling static, I instead recieved an epic blast of the loudest, most cardiac arrest-inducing screeching I've ever experienced. Through my headphones. DIRECTLY INTO MY EARS.

Jesus.

Also -- once my heart resumed beating and I stopped having the shakes, I tested this function (with the headphones off, of course). The noise is loud enough to be heard from ACROSS THE ROOM, and will automatically reset your speakers to the maximum volume even if they are both turned down AND muted.

Anyway... yeah. It sucked.

EDIT: And yes, I'm aware the OP warned of this. I had been careful, too. But the other noises were fine, not loud at all. The white noise wasn't.

If you listen to the right frequencies long enough, it gives you psychic powers. Or makes you crazy enough to think you have psychic powers. One of the two.
