I mightn't like Bush, and I sure as hell don't like the Neocon Movement, but I still love the country, and I think most Americans are viewing this as a hate of America.

So I want all the the usually anti-American Europeans to say one PROPERLY NICE thing about America, and all the Americans to say one nice thing about us Europeans. :)

Lets make some Trans-Atlantic Love folks....

I'll start:

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are the best things to happen to Comedy since... Monty Python.

Why?

You have enough people with something nice to say about America in America without the rest of the world having to stroke the c(o)untry's ego...

That being said:

My mate Gwen lives in America. Yay for America.

Personally?I can't think of anything I've experienced that's any good with America.I heard from a mate that people over there tend to be nice, but that can be said for any country.

Well I don't know where I fit in. Born in the UK, lived in the USA for six years, currently living in Canada and loving it.

I suppose I can say Europe makes me feel so... welcome, happy, and sophisticated. America makes me feel fun and excited. America is so lively and I love being there just because there's so much to do. So much opportunity.

Eh, prolly German. Zhukov himself said that without American supplies, the USSR would have collapsed in 1942.

Theres a saying that goes something like, "Love your country, hate your government." Which I think is very true. Be proud of your heritage and where you come from, but don't let blind patriotism and loyalty to your government cloud your judgement.

Oh dear. Would we? All us Europeans would be speaking German right now if it weren't for you guys so I should be nice. That's nice to know.

Some Europeans do speak German now. They're called Germans. And before we talk about languages I'd encourage you to check the language that you are typing in/speaking in as of now....Clue: it's not American....

As to this thread and why I'm being a complete dickface when you don't deserve my being rude as you, as far as I'm aware, personally have not done anything wrong:

Why should anyone say anything nice about something they dislike? I like the majority of American people I meet, a lot of the best (and a lot of the worst) examples of a functioning multicultural society exist in the States but American governmental policy and the role that America plays in our world is entirely negative; why should I show that any love? (I hate Britain for the same reasons)

Very fair. I just don't see why I should love America as (many) Americans do with a blind, all-accepting and unquestioning faith. As your saying indicates this is blinkered approach to life.

I don't love anything in my life like that - 'tis insanity I tells ya, insanity it do surely be.

Well, we do tend to be nosy, but still, if we weren't there you all would be wearing nazi symbols on your right arm.

They won. So did the USSR and the UK. I was saying that if we weren't there Hitler and his nazis would have eaten Europe. Though if the UK or USSR wasn't probably the same would be too.

Random Question:
What did the UK do during the cold war? Did they compete?

we thought most of the battles and ended up with quite allot of our former empire being capitalist as a result

I agree partially. I would give the Soviets the bulk of the victory but it was the Allies together who won WWII.

Fair enough I guess.

Don't think of the Cold War as "US vs. USSR." Instead, think of it as NATO vs. Warsaw Pact nations.

America's an okay country. After living in the states for eight years, I've noticed that although the culture is a tad bit messed up, the education is relatively excellent.

By it's essence surely noone 'competes' in a cold war?

Just a thought. Although if you mean were the UK still pussy-whipped by the US as they are now during the cold war the answer would, indeed, be yes.

What did the UK do during the cold war?
Espionage in Eastern Germany, as well as supplying a fair few of your hovercraft for Vietnam, and having the SAS training the Muja'hadeen.
Did they compete?
For the most part, we didn't really see the point, to be honest.

Without the USSR, Britain would have been taken over in World War 2. The US came in a bit late, but we also owed you a bit of a favour. So we didn't try that hard.

My transatlantic compliments:

British rock music is good. For example, the Beatles and the Stones are both cool. Eric Clapton's "Sunshine Of Your Love" is pretty badass. As well as those examples, Def Leppard is a great pop metal band.

Europe: I love history, and, as much as I love American History, there just isn't enough of it yet. So thank you, Europe, for having a really fascinating past for me to discover.
Also, Europeans created America. So I totally gotta respect them for that.
You guys have great beer, and you don't have silly puritan laws.
See? I can say nice things about other places.

I like that Europeans (among others) turned filming into an art, while we where filming things happening, Lumiere and Melies where making it something magical. While we where using light to expose the film, the Germans where using it to paint the frame. And then there's Eisenstien...

I like that when we 'forgot' about jazz or when we liked jazz but hated it's musicians they embrassed both.

I also like German cars, they're pretty cool.

I don't know, Europe is a bunch of countries, just because they share a currency now doesn't mean I can say one thing about all of them. Um...if they wheren't there there would be a lot less there to be?

I don't know. Interesting folk, just like everywhere I guess. Except Nebraska...

Axis: 0
Allies: 1
Family Corvidae: ~100,000,000
