Concerning the recent incident in Oregon (ATTN Screen Saver Fans)

I don't know if many people have come to this realization....but....

James Kim, the father who had died while searching for help recently in Oregon, had been the Asian Guy *not to sound racist, but it'll help many people get it...* from the Screen Savers who was sort of like Yoshi with all the cool tech and such.

I'll get some links up, but you simply just look up cnet.com and the techtv fan sites.

This really does suck...I'm actually pretty sad now.

The OP needs to explain better. The thing I understand is that the father that died from exposure out in Oregon was a somewhat known tech guy. About it....

A lot of TechTV fans that I know never realized that the recent incident in Oregon included a man known by the name 'James Kim.'

If you pay attention to any form of the news, there has been a lot of hype about the incident it self. *Not to be makeing an insult to you*.

CNN, Fox News, etc have been airing it up till yesterday.

On Thanksgiving Weekend, the Kim family had set out to Washington or such to meet family from Canada for Thanksgiving. They had taken a route provided to them by the State of Oregon's Department of Roads/Transportation. The route was actually not the safest, and snow fall in the region had embanked the car. For a week no one really made any notice, and so they finally did realize. Recently, a search had been conducted based off of a GPS signal from James Kim's cell phone. Hellicopters scoured the area and found their car, but the father was not around. According to family, James had ventured off for help.

The next day or so, they found his body 10 miles from where the car was. He had suffered from hypothermia, possibly being driven into some form of insanity and shedding off his warm clothing.

He had been a pretty important figure on TechTV/The Screen Savers, but no one realized due to the lack of the Media really makeing that statement that he was from the Screen Savers that well...this was the James Kim from the Screen Savers.

Well...to tell you the truth, 'TechTV Fans' sort of generalizes it to the people who know about the show.

I didn't assume that everyone here is an American, but I'd like to point out what you said was quite the flame bait.

As well...

The channel and show was more well-known in Canada and the UK, and had gathered fan bases throughout european nations such as France, Germany, and Italy. Even was pretty populous in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Not any prime time NBC/BBC type of channel...but has fans none the less.

Next time, I'll make sure to put into parenthesis (TechTV Fans)...

Oh wait, I did.

Pretty typical of a non-American to assume that anyone from America is that arrogant, say?

Well...to tell you the truth, 'TechTV Fans' sort of generalizes it to the people who know about the show.

You don't mention it being for TechTV fans in the OP.

I didn't assume that everyone here is an American, but I'd like to point out what you said was quite the flame bait.

Yes, you did; you said "If you pay attention to any form of the news, there has been a lot of hype about the incident it self". This is an assumption that he has been watching the same news as you, an American, and therefore that he, at the very least, resides in the USA.

And, no, that's not flame bait. That's an accurate observation taken from several years posting on this forum.

As well...

The channel and show was more well-known in Canada and the UK, and had gathered fan bases throughout european nations such as France, Germany, and Italy. Even was pretty populous in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Not any prime time NBC/BBC type of channel...but has fans none the less.

OK.

You'll find that you, in fact, did not.

Save for the fact that I didn't assume that anyone from America is arrogant, at all. I merely pointed out that it seems it is a common misconception amongst Americans that they are the only nation represented online.

Simple Emglish version: (;)):
A family got stuck in the snow. The search made national and international news. The father was an analyst for a US TV program.

The OP needs to explain better.

Indeed.

Was mostly trying to see if anyone who watched TechTV here on Nationstates had adored the guy, or even knew about it.

Try and remember that not everyone here is from the US, and that even those of us who are may well have no idea what TechTV is, much less The Screen Savers.

How so? He merely pointed out that no everyone here is from the US.

Even was pretty populous in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

There may be a small fan base here, but it would be so small as to be relatively insignificant.

Next time, I'll make sure to put into parenthesis (TechTV Fans)...

Where?

I'm from the US, and I find your assuming that everyone should know what this program was, and then getting defensive when people have no idea what you're on about, to be quite arrogant.

Oh, really? "(ATTN Screen Saver Fans)"

Tech TV (I had to search it up) is a former cable TV network in the US. The Screen Savers was a program on that network.

and in response, I get a bunch of people *mostly European* on here trying to pin me as someone who is an arrogant person because he is American, and presumely thinks that everyone on the net is American.

I make no effort nor attempt to really start an argument, and instead I get prepubescent bunches of people who are bored enough to start a flameful debate over something that was meant for a peaceful purpose.

I someties just forget how incompetent and utterly immature this forum can be. I won't be allowing my self to get involved into a debate I never really tried to conduct, but was initiated by some people who really just like being Flame Nazis.

Oh, really? "(ATTN Screen Saver Fans)"

A screen saver is a computer program. What the hell TechTV is, and what the hell you're talking about, still remain elusive...

The basics is that TechTV was a Digital cable channel over here in the States that was fairly popular among those into technology and such. "Screensavers" was a show on the channel that dealt with technology and such, and was quite interesting.

A couple years back it changed over to G4TechTV, shortly after Screensavers was cancelled, replaced with a show called "Attack of the Show", which sucks profusely in comparison. Where Screensavers was intelligent, fun, and dealt with Technology, "AotS" is idiotic, boring, and deals with current fads and such.

Also, although TechTV had a good number of Video game shows, G4 took it way to far, and almost everything on there is about video gaming now. It, quite frankly, sucks in comparison. Probably the worst includes Extended Play changing to X-play(Although this happened before it became G4, but it became rather appaulingly bad after the change), Cinematech being bastardized, and the loss of Anime Unleashed(Which was a fun late night portion, which showed some rather poor Anime). The loss of Teardrops also makes me sad.

So, that's the basics of it. TechTV dealt with Technology, changed to G4 which deals almost entirely with Videogaming(And also "Street racing" blocks everyday). I used to watch TechTV all the time, and after it changed to G4, I stopped watching it almost completely.

Not unless you count being tucked away in the corner of the American news section of the BBC website as "making the news in the UK".

Even if it isn't making news in the UK, there was no reason for you to come in here and make an elitist nuisance of yourself. Last I checked, Oregon was a US state and from that point it can easily be assumed that *gasp* the content of the thread dealt with issues local to the US!

I do, but I don't go into the topics (especially topics that are not new on the boards) and start doing this: "What the fuck are you talking about? Why should I know/care about this incident? You know that not everyone lives in Canada/Europe/Asia? All I see is Europeans/Canadians/Asians assuming everyone lives in Europe/Canada/Asia."

See, that's funny, because from what I can see it went more like this:

Poster A: remember there was this incident? Well, here's another interesting tidbit.

Poster B: What incident? And you post doesn't make much sense, by the way

Poster A: Where have you been? It's been on all the news channels

Poster C: You know, he might not be from the country where those news channels are, not everybody is

Poster A: How dare you accuse me of being arrogant

etc.

A fair summary?

2) I only found your posting to be arrogant when you started getting defensive and accused those pointing out that people may not know the program you are talking about of arrogance.

Do you claim you don't even look at thread titles to decide what threads to go into?

This threads title makes a number of statements to ward off the kind of crap he got.
1) Recent incidents: ie, something has already happened and some people already know about it and this is obviously targeted to them.
2) in Oregon: gee, I'm sure that has some sort international impact and is targeted at a wide, international audience.
3) Screen Saver Fans: sounds stupid, but if you arn't a fan of either the show or the program, why bother inquiring?
