What can be done to stem the increasing danger created by the lack of media accountability in the world

When the world's media reported that the pope's speech had been hateful of Muslims, despite ignoring the passage directly after that his views were not those of said past emperor that he quoted, Islamic militants murdered nuns. I think firstly this was a disgrace on the part of the Muslims for acting in such a despicably racist manner, but secondly the media has made no attempt to reconsile this, nor can it as once the damage is done, it is done. The media is unpunishable. So the problem must therefore be pre-emptively solved.

With the media, peope can have their reputations tarnished when they have done nothing wrong. An SNP MP was draged through the courts by a newspaper who claimed he had solicited a prostitute, and he was found innocnent. However the media had all had a feeding frenzy and because of that his reputation is tarnished despite him being exonerated. He was innocnet, the jury concluded.

How do we stop simmilar problems occuring again?

We can collectively pull are head out of ass. That would be a great first step.

Shut down all news outlets: If they don't exist, they can't be wrong.

End all events: If there's nothing to report, they can't get it wrong.

Get rid of any and all economic systems: If there's nothing to gain, why would they report anything?
