The best place you have been to?

Travel (or tourism) is a passion that most people have. So where have you been to that sticks out most in your mind? Maybe it's just a spot in your city or somewhere far away from home...

I think the best place I have ever visisted was Eleuthera in the Bahamas, just a tiny little elongated island without much expansion for tourists. Anyhow, the best part is the narrow point of the island as wide as a road. I looked to the right and saw the carribbean ocean and to the left and saw the atlantic. very neat.

I really don't know.

Cancun (not resort Cancun, real Cancun). I love the people and the atmosphere. I can't wait to go back this summer!

Yaxunah (village near Chichen Itza). Again, I love the people and the atmosphere.

Appalchia. Rural Appalachia is wonderful whether in the North or the South.

I loved the Mascarene Islands when I traveled around them for three years.I love the smell of the Jungle when its raining. The color of an Reunion sunrise.(The sky is weird purple). The women of Mauritius. The great food ,music, weed and drink. Unfortunatly there is also alot of poverty there which kinda sucks. But for some reason poverty hasn't made the people bitter.

Kalaloch, Washington. It's an absolutely breathtaking place, not too many tourists or too many cheesy tourist shops. You can rent cabins right on the beach and wake up to an amazing view of the Pacific. *sighs*

new zealand, particularly nelson, napier and wanaka. and queenstown for all the awesome stuff you can do.

i also love cyprus, but that may be mostly because of the people i was with and what we got up to than anything else.

oh, i like dresden too, and munich. and carcassonne and lyon.

The more rural bit of southern Spain. It was truly great, and I loved the Moorish architecture, as well as seeing the Jerez sherry producing areas. Did you know that sherry is named so because Jerez was called Al-Sheresh when it was a Moorish town?

Well now you do!

I loved Rovinj, Croatia. Great mix of cultures in a little town. Nice and affordable.
Istanbul, Turkey. The largest city in Europe, and one of the coolest too.

All of the ski resort I visited in Austria were beautiful.

This is insular, yes, but I'm very fond of Sweden (read: Fennoscandia) north of, or very close to, the Arctic circle.

Damn, that's hard. Yosemite leaps to mind, or Kamikochi. There's the haunting beauty of the playa of the Black Rock Desert or the intense blue of Lake Tahoe. Hagi is nice, or Takayama... hmm...

Ok, I think I've got it. The best place I have been to is the mouth of the Klamath River, about 20 miles south of the Oregon border. It's where the rugged costal mountains drop off into the Pacific Ocean and the wind fights between blowing in salt and fog, or the dry warmth of the red woods.

I lurved Hawaii and Puerto Rico when I was there, but Puerto Rico was kinda poor, but breathtakingly beutiful, same as the place where I went in Hawaii the first time (Molokai) but then I went to the Big Island and it was awesome. There was this great little island off the coast of Puerto Rico that had amazing snorkeling. I also loved Ireland when I was there, great people, history, and breathtaking scenery.

Is it because he ended his sentence with a preposition?

As to the best place I've ever been, that's a difficult question. Either St. Malo, France or Mackinack Island, Michigan. They're both rather touristy, but I like them.

I do love Greece, but it's very generic so I'll go for something more original.

Pondicherry in Tamilnadu in India was very beautiful, great beaches, lovely bungalows and just damn cool with Auroville and all that... Chennai in the same province was pretty nice too, although a dirty, smelly, poverty-stricken lepra-struck dirthole. I loved it.

Beijing was pretty nice too, mindnumbingly big, no ends to things to see and the beer was 25 cents a bottle... BIG BOTTLE!

Capri, just outside the coast of Italy, near Napoli was very, very beautiful also...

Run out by a bad call from the other guy and a great direct hit, and caught and bowled by spooning the only ball that bounced back to some shit spinner. I have 1 run and 5 wickets this season.

I've played.. 2 complete one dayers (3-28, DNB and DNB, 0*) and one two dayer (match: 13-5-15-2, 0 and 1) The rest have been rained out. That second one dayer I was playing for a team where the captain had never seen me play before so he didn't use me and they got slaughtered. The 2 dayer was for the better team in the same grade..

They started the day 2-2 after 3 overs, this slogger came in and knocked my Economy up a bit but i eventually bowled him afer he had got around 6-10 runs off of one of my overs.

reminds me of Quiberon in France... the town is on this small peninsula and it narrows down to allow enough room for one road and one train track at the narrowest part. it was so weird to be going along in the train and it looking as if we were just sliding along the water, witth the mediterranian (sp?) on one side and the atlantic on the other :)

There are so many places it is impossible to pick one. All of my travel has been in North America so that is limiting. I hate cities so most of them are out from the start. Miami is the absolute worst place I've been. The people are RUDE. Washington is good because of all the history.

Actually I like state parks that no one has heard of. Sea Rim in Texas is fantastic. It's like you own the beach, no other people. Get inside before dark or the mosquitos will carry you away. Lots of those little known parks where you are alone with nature.

Glacier park and the Canada park across the border are beautiful like most of the northern Rockies. Sand Dunes park in Colorado deserves a mention just because of the stars you can see. Big Bend in Texas used to be great because you could wade the river into Mexico and meet fantastic people who were glad you were there. I understand that the Border Patrol doesn't allow that any more.
