I was at another forum reading on internet security sites and systems that are out to get around government web censorship etc.. When I see ineteresting things I feel might come in handy in the future I like to bookmark the site. Well there was a link to a site called eDonkey (I didn't know it was a file sharing site at the time).. I went to it and got a message saying my IP had been logged and that downloading music etc was illegal. I don't DL music or movies or even share files .... I was just being nosey. :( I can't get in trouble for just going to a site can I?

LoL whew.. glad to hear that. I wouldn't have thought I could a couple days ago, but I read last night that some people have been fined for just going to some sites. And that there is a court case going on now that if they rule in favor of something.. the internet will become very restricted soon. Thanks all and sorry for making a post for this, since it turns out to be nothing. But I didn't have anyone else to ask, plus I knew y'all would know.

Seriously? Music? They prosecute serial uploaders, not downloaders. And even with the downloaders, we're talking thousands of songs here.

Pr0n on the other hand, that a different matter. Delete, then download big ass films, and delete them.... or so.... I'm.... told...

As well, anything they find is technically null and void without a permit.

Yeah, this argument just comes down to opinion now.
I don't like oppressive heat, but I'm fine with freezing cold.
I also play Spanish guitar (though, I prefer to play punk and metal)

Also, I think mooses (meese?) are cool, and Canada has communists, too. Just no Zapatatistas (sp?).

I know. That's why I got the spelling wrong. I added "-istas" to "Zapata". I forgot that the 'a' was supposed to be taken out...

Even if he did he'd be fine. The system has rapists and murderers to worry about, not to mention there are too many people, so stopping them all doesn't seem likely.

Sounds more tinfoilish.

There is a great deal of information lacking on the cases.

Unless they have a unique identifier(as in you were foolish enough to give your name, etc), they would be hard pressed to locate you.

I would be willing to guess that the case involved had a static IP and or the people were downloading like crazy.

A couple songs? Not worth the effort.

Your IP is logged? Don't worry about it.

Years ago when people were bootlegging cable signals, the industry had a campaign saying they were watching and you will loose your house if they caught you.

Nobody lost their house.

Yeah, I hope the RIAA possibly being able to put severe limits on the internet is tinfoil worthy. That would suck. Did some more searching and found the biggest write-up about this case came from Info-Wars. Not saying everything on there is bs, but I'm aware it is a conspiracy site.

Not to worry every site you go to (including here) "logs" your ip address. It is the only way that you can get information back from them. I have been to quite a few sites (taken over by the riaa(ses)) never heard a thing from them. Most sites just use the ip to track things such as amount of traffic, where it comes from when it comes in and how often they get "return" traffic. Unless you have a static ip the address will change now and then

As to getting rid of files look for the program (freeware) named Eraser, at. www.tolvanen.com/eraser/

This has not only military grade erasing but also better than military grade. if you want to see how it works it includes an additional program named verify.exe that will take you pass by pass and show the file after each pass. While nothing is perfect this is good enough for the **iaa (or the spouse looking for your porn collection)

For any thing worse, To be sure use thermite

Corona? Corona?! You're extolling the virtues of mexican beer and all you can think of is MGD with a lime stuffed in it?

C'mon man...you've got Modelo, Negra Modelo, Indio, Sol, Carta Blanca, Estrella(if you can get your hands on it), and all the wicked local brews that come in small cans with too much sediment.
