The Earth has seen alot of empires, the Roman Empire, Egyptian Empire, Greek Empire etc. However, they are all gone, however if you could bring one Empire back, which one would it be? Eh I would bring back the Ottoman Empire, at least they knew how to keep the middle east under control.

I'd like to see the Roman Empire pre-Christianity. Nothing like going to see a nice gladiator fight or showering in the blood of a freshly slaughtered bull. Mmm.

I'll say the Tibetan Empire

Also...I suspect I know exactly where this thread is heading.

Let's see if I'm right.

Dunno if they qualify as "empires," but I'd have to go with the ancient peoples of North (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Pueblo_Peoples), Central (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesoamerica), and South America (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_America#The_rise_of_agriculture_and_domestication_of_animals) for what is quite possibly the greatest agricultural discovery and advancement in the history of forever (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chili_pepper).

Yeah, of course they did. What, you didn't know that? How the hell did you think Buddhism became one of the world's most well-known religions? The generosity of other religions?!

Funny, the Western world looks just fine to me, apart from a few leaders we could do without at the moment.

I can't tell if you're referring to the Third Reich or one of the previous Germanic empires, but considering it's you, Potate...

Yeah, I'm only referring to THE German Empire, 1871-1918, but I wouldn't expect you to know about that...

Actually, to be honest, that was my first suspect on my list of Germanic Empires, but I thought I'd give the Third Reich a mention, just to go ahead and Godwin the thread.

I must profess some curiosity as to what you think is wrong with the Western world and why the German Empire would be helpful.

1) The West is wussified. We're so scared of offending people that we don't defend ourselves

2) A German victory in WWI really would have been for the best. There would have been no WWII (at least, not from Germany), no Hitler and no Holocaust. And I read somewhere that there were plans for a sort of EU when Germany won.

1. Wussified? How about we actually stop fighting at the drop of a hat and use diplomacy? To me, that makes more sense than going out and killing people for one reason or another. I daresay we don't have a problem with defending ourselves either, push come to shove.

2. Common misconception. In all probability Hitler would have come to power regardless. I don't recall the link to the article at the moment, but there was an article written showing that all the necessary steps leading to Hitler's rise to power were already in place. If anything, it would have simply made Germany in World War II much stronger and harder to oppose.

Even if the German Revolution had come about, I don't see how Hitler could have come to power. If Germany had won, they'd still have their land, and they'd probably the richest of the WWI participants. What scapegoat could they have had, now that they'd won the war?

You'd be surprised at how people can find reasons to come to power regardless.

I'd have a better answer but I've no luck finding that damned article. My apologies.

Greek empire? Uh? And when was it? If you mean Alexandros the Macedonian, well, it wasn't a "Greek" empire, and it lasted precious few years...
And Egypt wasn't an "empire", it was a kingdom.

Anyway, I'd wish for an empire... who was named:

Actually under the definition of 'empire', being that of one nation holding sovreignity over others it has coerced, both were empires at one point.

The Greek states used to hold Sicily (or at least parts of it) and part of Modern day Turkey, referred to as Ionian Greece. The Egyptians held rule over various other North African kingdoms.

I would like to see the Kingdom of Hungary at its height, before the damn Turks came in and ruined everything.
