Of the bunch, I'd have prefered Kennedy, but Stephane beat the hell out of Rae or Ignatieff as the final three options!!!

Same here, but, he is the better choice in the end.

Ignatieff and Kennedy seemed more "leader-like."
But I think Dion will do a good job nonetheless.

No, I doubt it, and it's a "he" FYI.

He'll do. Too bad McKenna's smart enough to not want the job.

Celebrate. Dion is pro-Kyoto and the former Environment Minister in Martin's cabinet before they were dethroned by a minority Conservative government.

No, the Liberals are a horde of centre-right powermongers who only look good when compared to the far-right Tories.

But the name...oh wait, it's Stephane. Not Stephanie, the way I read it. :(

Actually, I'm not sure that Dion was on Martin's cabinet... I believe he was on Chretien's cabinet and then booted once Martin was crowned OverJackass of Liberaland.

I prefer Dion over both Rae and Ignatieff by far. However, he has to convince the majority of Canadians that his 'new' liberals are a better alternative to the conservatives. That might seem like a resounding YES to many on this forum, but the outside world is a less liberal place.

Dion was generally disliked by the Quebec wing of the Liberal party, and is viewed as a hardline federalist in Quebec, and you may see all non BQ Quebec votes heading to the Tories in an election.

Dion's environmental record will play well for him. Even though he's part of the 'old gaurd' of Liberal leaders, he's a 'soft' figure to most voters, and you probably won't have a bad taste in your mouth after voting for him. However, I think he has his work cut out for him if he want's to knock Harper from his perch. Harper's nobodies fool. I think he's convinced most Canadians that he can get the job done. And Dion's heavy accent might not play well in English speaking Canada.

We'll see. Maybe Layton will have a secret powerplay up his sleeve.
