Most Pleasing Accents

(Wait for the poll, please.)

What is the most pleasing accent to your ear, that just makes whatever language is spoken a delight to hear?

For me, I'd have to say that academic version of British; you know, the kind you always hear from old professors in movies and the like. I could listen to a person with that kind of accent speak for days on end and never get tired of it.

Russian accents come in a close second, followed by Japanese.

All of em.

especially if the accent is light and not too overpowering.

Upper Class British is definately the accent that I love to hear :)

And why is german/eastern european jumbled into one. I can assure you that those accents are totally not the same at all :)

Brooklyn, one of my close childhood friends mother had a very severe brooklyn accent. Whenever I hear a good one now I feel pretty good. They're pretty rare now though.

I had to lump something to get it all to fit. My apologies. It's why mentioned specification for all of them, so we know exactly what it is you have chosen, yah?

Irish. Most definitely, definitely Irish. Nothing else does it for me quite the same, though Scottish and English accents get close.

edit: I, myself, have been mistaken to have an english accent myself - or a Boston accent, some define it as. I don't notice it in myself, obviously, but I've been told it's there.

I dunno about accents, and I dunno about favourites... but I find Chinese is that hardest language for me to easily to listen to.

Irish. Most definitely, definitely Irish. Nothing else does it for me quite the same, though Scottish and English accents get close. Why, thank you! You're probably referring to a male Irish accent, but still...

Personally, I like any voice that isn't annoying. I agree that Russian can sound really nice; very 'soft' at times. I like Scottish and some English accents. I have a Welsh friend, and his accent always brings a smile to my face. 'Softish', not nazal or throaty American accents can be nice. Australian accents, if they're not stereotypical 'g'day' ones, can also sound very nice. I know some people with sexy Brazilian accents. I even have a Filipino friend with a nice accent. Heck, almost anyone can have a nice accent! I'm very indecisive!

Brooklyn, one of my close childhood friends mother had a very severe brooklyn accent. Whenever I hear a good one now I feel pretty good. They're pretty rare now though.

I cleaned a house that belonged to a family that was from Brooklyn. They had light accents, but they were totally noticeable on certain words (lasagna, here, outside, door...).

It's a great accent. Too bad those people moved, because I loved cleaning that house (always at least two solid hours, and the work was a breeze). The Brooklyn accents were icing on the cake.

Sounds too much like Estonians, and they suck, so Bostonites is better, because it makes me want to suck. :)

To the OP - classic lecturer English does not guarantee enjoyment. Believe me on this.

As to the topic, generic Irish girl accent is the single best accent ever. In moderation, of course, I don't refer to the accents so broad it sounds like one long guinness-induced slur.

German accents are hot. But only the ones that the women have; when men have it they seem to be, I don't know, clumsy or something. Same with spoken german. Maybe I just like female voices. :p

I don't know which. :) I've known two people who spoke with a South African accent, and I've heard it on tv once or twice. But that is the extent of my familiarity with it.
