Where should my fiance and I go on our honeymoon?

Ok, so we're pretty much decided on going to Europe, but Europe is a pretty big place. What places are the best to go?
Personally, I like beaches, but my fiance isn't really big on them (he's very pale-skinned and burns easily), so they aren't a must. I'd like to have historic sites, museums, etc. around - ruins would be especially cool. Easily reached entertainment is a must. And I really want to go somewhere beautiful.
Neither he nor I fluently speak any language but English (although I have a slight understanding of written Spanish - I never got good enough to understand it spoken - it just goes by too fast), so we can't go too far out in the country unless the people are really nice and don't mind stupid Americans who don't speak the language.
So, any suggestions?
Sicily is the first place that springs to mind. It has beaches, ruins, museums, nightlife... Unfortunately it's been quite a while since I've been there and I can't remember how much English is spoken (I spoke Italian the times I was there).

Easy.
Depending on the time of year, capri.
No beached per se, but it is on the sea. Home to tiberius's villa, and easy access to tonnes of historic stuff.
Dead beautiful too.

Or if language is an issue. The channel islands in summer. A bit boring though.

Ireland. Simply because no one has mentioned it yet.

Florence. There's no beach, but it's a wonderful place. Absolutely wonderful.

So, any suggestions? Why don't you go to the Middle East? Americans are very well liked there... :D

Croatia. Great beaches and weather and food, but a bit touristy in the historical places like Dubrovnik. The proximity to Italy means you can easily make an excursion there.

Come to Wales, we have beaches but you'll never get sunburned on them.:)
Plus plenty of nice scenery and Castles dotted around the place.

Indeed, and as long as you don't expect too much, they're good for surfing too.

A nice little cottage way, way, WAY up in the Alps, where it's you, him, the fireplace...and the king-sized bed. Rawr. ;)
You can see that I'm someone who emphasizes getting away from everyone into someplace neat like high mountains.

Do they have cottages like that with high-speed internet access? If they do, I might be able to talk him into it. =)

Italy...hands down.
Plenty of history...more than many places. Depending on where in the country you go, you get wonderful beaches, or breathtaking mountains...sometimes within a half-day's trip of each other.
And I echo the sentiments of Myrmidonisia....Florence is simply amazing.

Quite possibly, though it would have to be satallite internet, as I doubt a DSL line would be run up there.
...
Then again, we do have DSL all the way up here in Pine Junction, Colorado...so you never know what those kooky Europeans wil ldo.

My wife and I went to the Czech Republic for our honeymoon and loved it. Prague is stunningly beautiful. Easily one of the most beautiful cities in Europe as iot managed to avoid getting bombed in WW2.
Though being land locked beaches are hard to come by.. but Cesky Krumlov (http://www.discoverczech.com/cesky-krumlov/index.php4) just to the south is awesome. We hired tires.. made a packed lunch and grabbed some beers and floated round the moat. Was great fun.. lying in our little tires and floating past castles and quaint little cottages.. and yes they had high speed internet when we were there 3 1/2 years ago. Eastern europe is internet addicted.
If that isn't enough there is beer world.. and beer is government subserdised so its actually cheaper than buying water :)

Oh, heavens no! Don't listen to him. Warsaw is very underwhelming.
Not to mention the obviousness of it being in Poland.
Yeah, precisely.

This reminded me, Bosnia is supposed to be gorgeous. I've never been there myself, but I'm trying to plan a trip there sometime in the next couple years with a Bosnian friend of mine. I've seen pics of her hometown, and it's absolutely beautiful. :)

St Maarten is my favorite place in the world.
As for Europe, I went to Italy, France, England, and Switzerland. While I enjoyed Italy (except for being mugged on the subway in Rome, if you go to Rome, be careful..) Switzerland, England, and France were all much better imo. I really enjoyed London, but mainly for the theatre district. Switzerland is gorgeous, too.

Yeah Yugoslavia used to be THE holiday destination of the east. Don't think Bosnia quite makes it the the Adriatic though does it??

There's a small portion of it that's on the Adriatic, I think. No beaches in my friend's hometown, just a really pretty river.

It's so-so, but very hilly and mountainous, with beautiful nature, and Sarajevo has a surprisingly refreshing night life, even if it's not all that pretty of a town. Well, except the old part of town with the so called "Bascarsija" which is very influenced by Turkish and Arabic architecture - the mosques and fountains and air make you feel like you're not in Europe any more, which is nice.

I think that it depends on where you're coming from and what time of the year you plan on going. I've never been to Italy, but I would love to go. Venice, Florence, Rome; all are fantastic places if you're into sightseeing. Or even go to a quiet town. Some friends of my parents went to some fantastic tranquil village in the North; I can't remember the name though.
Ireland is a lovely country; depending on where you go. If you're looking for nice weather; then don't bother. I'm not saying that it rains all the time because it doesn't. I don't think it's ever rained non stop here for more than maybe 3 days. But it's still very unpredictable. It actually has some of the most fantastic beaches; if you don't plan on swimming. The west coast with the Atlantic waves can be great for surfing, though. It's one of the only countries where you can go to a beach and feel like you're the only person on earth; just you and the sea. But again, it depends on the place. The Irish are lazy and don't clean up after them on the beach and so litter is quite common. The cities are good for a visit; but not to stay. I'd go to a more rural town on the coast. The people are often very nice; especially if you're on honeymoon. Just don't expect things to be 'cheap'.
