UVALDE, Texas -- Health officials said a woman discovered what turned out to be a rabid bat crawling on her ankle while at a Uvalde movie theater.
The Texas Department of State Health Services said the woman may undergo post-exposure preventive treatment over last Saturday's incident.
Authorities also were trying to determine if anyone else at The Forum 4 Theaters on U.S. 90 East in Uvalde was exposed.
Officials said the bat was captured, tested, and came up positive for rabies.
A pest management company will check for more bats at the complex and seal any openings that could be entry points for the furry creatures.
Uvalde is about 80 miles southwest of San Antonio.
