Affirmative Action Makes Me Sick

I'm 21. I'm White. I'm male. I live in a middle class American household. (Remind anyone of a song?)

I am the oppressed. My freedoms are being taken away daily by a growing shadow government which has decided that the basic freedoms upon which this nation was founded are no longer relevant. If I say the wrong thing, check out the wrong book, talk to the wrong people... I can be jailed indefinitely. Me. A natural born American citizen.

I vote. Not that it matters. I do my civil duty when called upon to take part in our legal system as a juror. I rarely break the law, and never harm anyone.

All I want to do is live a moderately happy life, which I was promised I was allowed to do, and then fade away. I have no bones to pick.

Except one. Affirmative Action.

It has been said before, many times. But now I am saying it. Affirmative Action is the single most racist gathering of the English language ever conceived. Not only is it demeaning to the very people it was intended to help, but as a side effect it has oppressed millions of people just like me.

Affirmative Action is not a measure of equality. I truly wish it were. I think it should be stated somewhere in our law books that everyone is equal. Wait... oh, riiiiight! The Constitution of the United States of America. Ok, so we already covered this issue. Why do we need Affirmative Action then? What.... what is that you say? We don't? Oh... Then.... why?

"TO REPAY THE DEBT WE OWE ALL OF THE PEOPLES WE HAVE OPPRESSED THROUGH OUR SHORT EXISTENCE OF A NATION!" says the Man.

Um... but, I didn't oppress anyone. I don't even think anyone in my immediate family did. Or my friends for that matter. No, not my grandparents... Hmm.... who was it then?

Hey, one more thing. Since I can't get a job now and remain a positive contributer to society, doesn't that mean I am being hindered and effectively forced into vagrancy? Isn't that Oppression? Right... so I'm being oppressed now. Well, what will you give my great grandchildren as payment for the debt you are incurring on me now?

"NOTHING" the Man replies.

I'm going to go throw up now.
