When you put a fresh roll out in the bathroom, does the paper come over the top, or off the bottom of the roll?

I don't really pay all that much attention, on the off chance that I actually have the initiative to put the roll on the holder, instead of just throwing it on the ground, as is my usual practice. I don't share a bathroom, so I can get away with it.

over the top. the other way irritates me (mostly as it means the paper runs down/touches the wall and is probably unhygienic, but also because its annoying to have to reach all the way under the roll to get at the paper)

The answer is still bottom, usually, although I don't really have a strong toilet-paper-direction preference.

I tested that theory with as many people I could get my hands on that time and found it to be more or less accurate (despite my doing it the bottom-way round), and it itched me to find a broader people sample.. but I never did it. So, umm, yeah.

At the moment, my flatmates took considerable time and effort to teach me to do it the top way, because this is the only way our weird thingy the roll is on will not get jammed.

top definitely. it irritates me when it's put on the bottom, especially when the bog-roll holder is on the facing wall so you have to lean a way down to get any paper and risk dribbling. i mean i generally have no worries with dribbling on the floor, it's so easily avoidable, and i often wonder what's the problem for people that dribblem, but when you have to do gymnastics to reach the bog-roll i can understand it.

ah, fair enough. i'm just slow. i was thinking there must be some dirty thing people got up to with bog-roll that i didn't know about. i tend to assume innocence seeing as i often find out i've been incredibly sheltered.

I don't really care if the toilet paper is top or bottom, I mean if the toilet paper was on top, then it would be only 4 inches closer to my reach than if it was on the bottom so it doesn't matter.

At work it's sideways. Yes, the dispenser has two rolls that face each other and are mounted parallel to the wall. :eek:

When it's on a roller, I always dispense it topwise. Having it roll from the bottom is just awkward, not to mention inefficient and prone to disaster (god damnit, STOP RIPPING SO EARLY!).

Of course, I haven't had a roll dispenser since late 2003, so I just leave a roll out on the top of the toilet's water tank. After three-plus years of doing so, I've found that it's much easier to take the roll into your hands and get what you need from there. Dispensers don't allow enough freedom.
