This is inspired by the "Miami is a third world country" thread.

Out of all the hell holes in the US, which do you all believe to be the absolute worse off? In terms of violence, poverty, lack of civil service, and general crime. My vote goes to South Central L.A. in 2005 there was 1006 murders.. in that one area, thats more than the amount of Soldiers that died in Iraq that year.

That's almost 40% of CA's murders that year.

Wash DC is also a shithole.

Bullshit. Have you ever been to Detroit?

Detroit isn't a great city, but it's certainly not the worst in the world.

You apparently haven't been to much of it then. There are some rather nice parts of Detroit.

My vote for worst city in the US would be Flint, Michigan. There are a lot of nice parts to Detroit, but the nice parts of Flint are very few and far between.

The Murder Capital, yes.

According to this article though, it seems St. Louis is now our most dangerous city.

While it's finally improving some since Katrina, I'd guess New Orleans ranks at he bottom for now. Would you want to live there as things stand at the moment?

Places I've been too that are pretty bad, Bed-Stuy (in Brooklyn), parts of Harlem, and the South Bronx. I've been mugged in Bed-Stuy a few times.:( .

Cleveland sucks the balls.

Terrible situation for real estate (sell your house in California, buy an estate in Cleveland) , has sports teams that get your hopes up, and then, at the key moment, crush them ruthlessly, It's cold.

I second Flint, there are no safe places over there.

I used to live in St. Louis, and as long as you stay on the west side and never visit north, south or downtown St. Louis you are safe. East St. Louis is also super dangerous, but its actually a different town (which was the most dangerous city in the US in the 90s.)

Camden, NJ.

I concur with a vigor.

I've lived in Queens, Jersey City, Bayonne, and a score of other places but Camden is by far the worst. If you say something wrong in the wrong part of town you won't be in Kansas anymore. More like the city morgue.
