A family that bought a video camera from a Best Buy store got home and opened the box only to find a jar of tomato sauce, a telephone cord, and an electric outlet cover. I wonder how this will be resolved? I wonder if somewhere, right now, someone is making a video recording of pasta?

how sad.......
This is.......odd. You have to commend the person who took the camera for thinking to put something int he box and leave it there. Cos that's comic genius.

I'd be interested to know how much the thing cost. The article claims it was both $1,600 and $600...

It would have to be a massively bad ass camcorder to be $1600...

Hey the article says the couple filed a police report - what crime would it be classed as?

Robbery clearly.
Theft as robbery needs the application of force to be used. No force was used according to the article.

I wasn't aware of this. But in any case, there should have been a camcorder in the box, considering there was tomato sauce there instead, one assume the camcorder was stolen.

I would think some sort of fraud.

*waves madly* Haven't seen you in AGES!!!!!! (sinuhue here)
It wouldn't be fraud unless the store actually took out the camera and sold the other goods in its place on purpose.

Which I imagine is what the cops are looking into. I'm sure Best Buy didn't knowingly sell these people a jar of tomato sauce.

I wonder if someone on the supply end did though...which could actually be fraud...hmmmm....

Entirely possible. What's more likely is that it was an employee at the store.
