So, who here are Gnostic and what can you tell me about Gnosticism?

I am not Gnostic, but I have information, however it's all in the form of apologetics so it's probably biased. ;)

look up the Gnostic gospels... i believe that it has something to do with that.

You might be thinking of either the Shakers or the Albigeinseans(sp)/Cathars, I seem to remember some relationship between the later and gnosticism, I do know they were a dualsist sect that beileved everything in the physical world was evil, while the supernatural was good. However, they were allegedly wiped out by the Inquisition, alegedly because it is hard to kill ideas so its possible some survived, so your most likely thinking of the Shakers who if I remember correctly dissapeared for the reason you gave.

you could be right, i think i'm mixing up several sects. the evil physical world/good supernatural world certainly rings a bell and the 'shakers' name does too. i'm just vaguely remembering what one of my friends, who did religious studies at uni, told me.

You might also be thinking of Manicheism, although I don't think that was christian so much as being big arround the time the various early christian sects were forming, I remember that St. Agustine was one before converting to christianity.

No, they were fine with fucking, but it's hard to keep your head with the Romans & Catholics on your ass, even if you procreate 24/7. I believe they were whiped out by 500 AD.

Already read that before posting. I wanted to know more, especially from those who considered themselves some form of Gnostic.
