mostly i'm just curious if anyone on here ever played the RPG or card game.

i have the RPG books, you see, and figured i might try and sort some kind of forum based campagine or something if i could find players.

doesn't it just suck when truely awsome games die 'coz the company stuffs it up?

anyway, i bust over NZ$100 on these RPG books, and i'm now trying to find a use for them [the origional plan fell through]

so, if anyone's interested, umm.. say so here.

actualy, i think they only published three books? if that's the case, i've got all of them.

anyway, yeah. that's it.

no one? this makes me sad.

first [and probibly only] glorified bump.

should i have put this in II? it's not exactly useual fair for there and in no way related to nations, as it's individual based.

Sorry, this is the first I've heard of this game. :(

I've heard of it, just never played it. Have one of the cards stuck on my wall (it was shiney and I was stoned :\)

hehe. poor card.

the card game is awsome. it was designd around a refined version of the engine Decipher used for "Star Wars" back in the day. they then built up a universe around that.

so, the universe it feels kind of star-warsy, only without the sucky bits. hehe.

also lacks the strong delineration between good and evil. instead has 5 factions . Earth, [greedy corperate so and sos. the corperations got into the UN, then took it over. the place is now mostly run by the 'central government corperation' with others filling other roles] Gongen [used to be mars. inhabited mostly by people of asian decent who moved there after the massive nuclear catastrophy that basicly wasted most of asia] the Mavericks [not really a facton as such, but the title serve the purpose. odd ball missfits in the rim. often pirates and thugs, but not always. lawless.] the Quay [big friken scary aliens. not exactly bad, but Angery!] and the Shi [also aliens. THE evil, such as it is, of the Wars universe]

hehe. there's a lot of back story, and sadly the parts of decipher's site which had the information have gone missing.

the whole thing is set in our solar system [though some of the back story is kind of other side of the universe stuff], and the invention of the grav drive has made interplanitary, if not interstaler, travel practical.

you've got kizen, who are sort of like the force attuned in star wars, only with a much wider variety of powers, no major good/evil split, and save for the Shi, most of them are only just comeing into their powers. something to do with quantum foam and the massive great rift in space between sayal [inserted between the astroid belt and jupiter, by way of said rift] and jupiter. :D

swords and the like have made a comeback due to the tendancy of projectile weapons to make holes in hulls [Bad!], useualy with monomolecular edges so they Can cut into a tank [if you survive getting close enough] energy weapons are around... the Gongen have giant friken robots crusing around the place [limited in number, but there]

i've got most of the stuff on CDs somewhere.

it's really not surprising so few have heard of it though. that's what actually killed it. for some reason Decipher refused to market it before finding out if people would buy it or not, then ran out of money to even pay the artists before printing the third set of cards.

Mongoose published the RPG rule book and the first umm... what's it called... suppliment, as well as the first scenario book, before decipher put the whole project on 'indefinate hiatus' all very sad.

didn't help that it was the first TCG i'd actually shelled out and bought a whole Box of a set for. *head shakey*

way i figure it, if enough people show some interest, i could set up an off-site free forum with the relivant info in it, and run something. keep the numbers out of the narative as much as possible [have the GM, that is most likely me, do all the dice work when nessisary] .. could be interesting.

intregue anyone at all? heck, even if you don't know and are interested, it's good. but having some people with a clue to help me out would be nice too.

or this whole thing could fall over and go splat. whatever *shrugs*

I'm sort of maybe mildy interested...but I'm truly awful at roleplaying and you'd probably kick me out within minutes :p

well, this one would, fortunatly, be on a 1 player= 1 charicter basis. makes keeping track of what is and isn't god moding easyer, at the very least :)

if you can write narative, you can probibly RP reasonably well. hehe. and in this case there'd be numbers to back it up.

it's sort of a big project to set up though, so i wouldn't want to try it unless i was sure of enough people for it to be worth the effort.

As with most of your projects, if I have time, I'm in.

another bump. need at least a couple more people interested for this to be worth the effort.

Sounds kinda fun.

So we’d be RPing on some other forum, using your rule books? Or am I way off the mark?
Angermanland

pretty much. :D

know anything about the universe other than what's in this thread? *laughs*

in theory, for the players the rules won't be a huge issue, and the numbers should be (almost) a non-issue. partially because i don't want to have to type out the whole freaken rule book, and partially because i think it'd be more fun that way.

.... this responce really didn't need to be this big. oh well.

one last little poke. if more people show an interest in the next 24 hours, great...

if not, i think i'll start with what we've got :D too few is better than none, in this case :D

Count me in then. I’ll swot up on the universe, if i can find some info...

Decipher's website might still have Something. the forums are still there, at any rate, but most of the short storys and so on are sadly missing now.

there were [briefly] a few fansites, and mongoose's site has a bit.

i think i caught most of it on a couple of CDs here, and the rest is in the RPG books or on the cards, so once i get the forum up i'll see what i can do about putting that stuff somewhere people can get at it.

google serches are a pain for this, because the entire name is "Wars" ... you have any idea how many things have "Wars" in the title? i don't, but it's Big :D

ok, i haven't put anything IN it yet, but here's the forum site

http://s8.invisionfree.com/Wars_RPG/

behold it's awsome emptyness! [it will stop being empty as soon as i get done putting things in, of course :D]

all righty, catagorys are set up, i Think it's all set up so you can sign up for the forum there....

actual data is decidedly lacking right now, but i'll get onto that tommorow :D

also:

behold! there is a post! it is no longer empty :D

well, i got bored ahead of schedual, dug out my CDs, and posted....

every single bit of WARS fiction on them.

formating's horibal because i had to copy and past from PDF files..

on the other hand, my useual bad spelling is not in evidance for exactly the same reason [i didn't write/type them :P]

go have a look. if i remember rightly there's a few hours reading there, and it'll definatly give you a feel for the world of Wars.

now we get to the bit i'm dreading though...

the rest of the information i put up i'll have to type up myself from the RP books and tcg cards... oys.
Angermanland

heh. found a way to save myself some work. just wish i wasn't the only one participating who has the information. oys.

most of the background info on the Mavs and Gongen is up, and the basics of Shi and Quay.

my typing's shot and my spacebar squeeks, so the rest can wait for a few hours :)

because i'm not sure of our forum's update system:

we're now officially good to go. well, shakedown cruse with a skeliton crew 'good to go', at any rate, but still good to go :)
