I just got done seeing this movie, and... wow. I'm still not quite sure how to think about it.

For those who haven't heard about it, it's basically three parallel narratives all telling the same story: a man trying to save his true love. The three settings are wildly divergent (16th-century Mesoamerica, 21st-century hospital, 26th-century space-bubble), but are all tied together through common visuals, themes, and dialogue. The ending was a bit too abstract for my tastes, but the brilliant way in which the story unfolded more than made up for it. It sorta reminded me of Lost -- lots of metaphors, lots of parallelism, lots of mystery, and a deep sense of coherency and interconnectedness.

So, if you've seen the movie, what's your take on it? If you haven't seen it, are you going to?

Hmmm sounds like they were following the Canticle for Liebowitz approach.

I will probably still check it out. Rachel always peeks my interest! ;)
