As some may know, the recent anti-Meth laws in parts of the US (or was it a federal law? Meh.) have made it much harder to get certain ingredients required to make the drug.
This is (to me) fine and dandy. I dont plan on buying sulpheric acid anyway.
However, some of the corporate responses to this are causing me some confusion. I simultaniously want to laugh and cry.
This originated with a commercial for some anti-allergy medicin (cant remember the name), but basically the commercial came off to anybody who knew about the laws as:
"Hey guys, our company is too cheap to change its formula in order to combat a horrible drug, so were going to move our drug behind the pharmacy counter and charge you extra! Isnt that great?"

Dont get me wrong about the drugs. Marajuana and such is fine. I have issues with a drug that essentially turns you into a stereotypical leper/zombie.

It was only in parts of the US, not federal, AFAIK.

And I'm pretty sure the companies will be forced to see the light eventually - many already have changed their formula because they *know* it's going to be a disadvantage if their product is sold only behind the counter whereas the competition's is readily available on the front shelves.

So yeah, for once I trust capitalism to take care of that problem quite handily.

Not that that really changes anything about the meth problem, of course.

People need to make excuses for NOT supporting the legalization of drugs these days? What is the world going to?

I believe the statement was
"Thank you for not weakening your drug to keep it from being stored behind the counter."

In other words, they kept the formula the same and not changed it (which could become a reason to up the price) because of outside pressure or the need to make it easily available.
